First off very sorry this happened. Why I always try to give a wide berth but then dip****s take that as an invitation to cut you off which is what looks like what happened. Hopefully you gave as good as you got. And the most important thing is that you seem ok. Hope you are ok as far as physically.

For the car...well... I see a timing chain... Could be that you just need a new front cover and valve covers... IMO, your car is totaled. I'd take whatever the insurance gives you and then turn around and get another New Edge. Maybe buy yours back and take whatever parts you want/need and sell the rest. Once you get in a wreck like that the car is always going to have little issues.

His bumper got a little scuffed and that was it. As for the car, I'm in college so all my money went into it lol, so I'm broke. With that being said, my girlfriend lives with me so I don't really need my own car an I plan to redo this one completely again. How much is the new cover and valves gonna cost??

Your best bet to keep costs low would be to locate a junk yard that allows you to remove your own parts, and start buying what you need. Used parts are fine, and you get to be the one that selects the "quality".

How long has it been since you finished painting it? A week? Sorry about this man. Are you alright? No injuries?
I look forward to seeing put back together again!

That's what I'm looking for is junk yards already, that's my best bet at this point. An ya I'm fine, I was about to get out and beat some a** when he did it but my door wouldn't Open so i guess that's a good thing haha. I really don't think I need much to get it running. I limped it to town which was about 5 miles an it didn't smoke or overheat, it's just the front cover showing the timing chain that leaked, then I need a left fender, headlight panel, headlights, bulbs, an a new bumper. But ya, maybe 2 weeks painted, not even a week with the wheels. I almost sat down and cried.

Don't get me wrong, there's probably a lot more wrong I don't know about, but to get her running again shouldn't cost TOO much

Well if the frame and the rad support are ok... This is a 99 or 2000 model year correct? You will need to find a timing cover off of a 99 specifically if you are a 99 and if the valve covers are unique on 99/00 and early 01 cars. Intake is probably cracked too as well along with some other stuff.

Yeah your best bet if you really wan to fix it is to locate a wrecked parts car that is good in the front.

But if its this guy's fault then won't his insurance cover it to fix it? Or if they total it you should make enough $$$ to buy it back and have the money to fix it and get it inspected as a rebuilt title.

Hm, well the cop is being useless; it's good to know our tax dollars are hard at work. Hopefully, it won't be too much to fix it.

I'm thinking I can get her fixed for less than a grand, considering I do all the work myself. Do I have a grand though?? No lol so it'll be in the garage awhile.

Nice little update, the guys filing a claim with his insurance. His bumper only had a scrape, I wouldn't of even known I hit him if I didn't just hit him. But so now my insurance knows an I'm being raised while he's probably gonna take the money and pocket it. I hate slim bags, really do.

w/o intending to insult (esp the OP!!!) if you hit someone from behind it's your fault 9 out of 10 times. He already said he got a ticket, the claim is going to go against him. People will actually do stuff like this for insurance scams.

I know they say it's my fault, but there should be laws into how much room needs to be available between cars before you can even attempt to get over, then if a wreck is caused, it's that persons fault. Because if he wouldn't of been there I would've had enough time to stop but didn't because he squeezed in. An I'm not sure how much it's going up yet until his insurance decides how much he gets.

On a different note, will any 4.6L timing cover work?? I found one for $50

If its from a 01-04 are direct bolt ons, earlier ones can work with modifications. Ideally you want an 01-04 tho.

There are laws about how far you have to follow too. Unfortunately, without a dash cam you are kinda screwed. That is where I think a lot of insurance companies are going to start to go which could lead to a whole different slew of issues.

At this point tho you are just going to have to work with your insurance and see if there is anything that can be done. He's probably going to try to go after you to get the bumper painted on your insurance's dime.

Im so sorry man. I install dash dvr cams in my kids cars as well as my own. Amazon sells a fantastic mirror replacement with a 2 way cam for front and back coverage for 140. My daughter recently used it in court in college station for an identical situation as yours. With it wired to turn on with ignition and a 32gig micro sd it keeps a weeks worth of driving before it overwrites the oldest footage

First off, that sucks to see, hopefully karma bites that guy in the *** real hard soon.

Second, I wouldn't even try to touch replacing the whole front clip by myself without a frame jig to keep things straight and a possibly a spot welder. To replace something like that you're basically looking at pulling off everything in front of the firewall. Engine, radiator, all the wiring, brake lines, etc.

As I said before. Use this as a parts car and find a clean roller. This is not going to be super cheap to fix...

This is the unit my daughter went with. She has one facing drivers side and front since she worries about her interaction with leo's during stops because she carries a concealed handgun. I have a Oregon scientific unit in my mustang and my power wagon my wife drives has one with built in onstar in a mirror unit
