Lucy's rebuild

So here's what I plan on getting for under the hood-

*Stage 2 cams
*24lb injectors
*Edelbrock victor Jr intake manifold
*The edelbrock fuel rail and the 90mm throttle body (unless mine will work)
*Rebuild kit

Since I'm not real familiar with internals that well, what else will I need combined with what I listed to make everything run good and smooth?? Also, can someone direct me to a good rebuild kit that'll be good for what I'm shooting for??

Lucy's rebuild

It'll come back together before you know it. Maybe a few years but the wait will be worth it. It's taken 5 years to finally get my Challenger painted. Which it's kinda my fault because I wanted this guy to paint it and no body else. So I had to wait.

Lucy's rebuild

I couldn't tell you at the moment. I'd have to get some prices from my sources and then see the part. Then I could let you know.

Yup, gonna go with the roush bumper an I'm debating on getting on the vented fenders. Not sure how they'd look together.

Right now I have long tubes with the stock cats and flow masters. And that guy said he'd take the cutoff Monday for $50

I find that flowmasters sound very good on 2Vs.

That beauty has a cat delete H pipe with 40 series. Sounds damn good. One of the few engines I say sound great with a cat delete set up.

Regretfully, it could've been; I own the blue Roush beside it. I had opportunity after opportunity to buy it. But he sold it to his grandson. I'm ok with it it's his baby and it should stay in the family. And he's never abused the car at all. It was always babied and never driven hard. He occasionally chirped the tires. I talk to him often and I see the car every now and then. Only issue is he's just heart broken that it's being abused. His grandson has already wrecked it and beats the hell out of it all the time. He regrets selling it to him.
Back on topic I believe the 2Vs sound great with a cat delete H pipe and 40 series or super 44s. One of the best set ups for that engine in my opinion.

Damn, it's really shame he's tearing it up. If you don't admire the mustang, don't buy it in my opinion. But that's just me. An ya, I was really really excited to see what the H pipe would do. And towards the original post, do you know what else id need to get to add the cams, intake manifold and rebuild?? I'm trying to get a list of every last piece and part I'll need so I can price it all.

Lucy's rebuild

Personally, before modding it I'd find out everything that's broken and get prices for them. Now for the cams, I know for my 3V, I've been recommend to upgrade some components in the heads for stage 2+ cams. If it's the same for the 2Vs I couldn't tell you.

It's gonna be quite awhile before I start modding or even buying parts to fix it. But my plan is to get her torn apart this weekend and see what's all broke, get a list of all the parts that need replaced, put all the parts I want to add like cams an all that on the list, then start disassembling the whole front end for the new front cutoff. Then I'll start slowly buying all the parts I need and want. I think I'll call AM and tell them what I want to do and find out what else id need to do to handle the cams an everything.

Lucy's rebuild

Not too many performance shops rate cams with lift and duration only. They use stages as ratings now.

The higher the stage the more aggressive the cam is. That's basically what it means.

Not sure if it's 100% true or not, but I was reading that with stage 2 you might get slightly better gas mileage and still get that lopping sound, they said after stage 2 it hurts mpg.

Sorry to hear about your car dayves. It was sure a shame what happened. Glad you're ok. As for cams you'll hear many of the older members here talk about cushman cams. I've heard them on a couple of cars and they sound nice and are very well thought out with their grinds on them. I believe they will sell you a whole can package on their website. Make sure you have them degree the cams. It's cheap insurance to know they will be right.

I'm asking what do you mean by " Stage 2 camshafts ? " doesn't really tell us anything ..
Specs. Of the camshafts ?

Just curious .. Why don't you try getting custom grind camshafts to fit your needs. If your interested I can direct you to the right guy who will make them , and ship them to you.

I'd be interested in doing that I'm just not familiar with internals well so I'd have no idea what I'd be looking for when getting custom cams haha.

You need to state what your end goals are with this thing. If its just to do a quickie rebuild with some cams and roll, pull a low mileage motor out of a Vic and swap the cams and roll. I found a 38k Vic motor near me for $575 delivered to my house.

If you are looking to do an actual buildup on a budget as far as the rotating assy. That's easy too.

-Stock cast crank-free
-Boss Rods-$160
-Forged pistons-$500

The ARP hardware/gaskets/machine work will be more than the rotating assy will.

However, if you are talking about 24lb injectors and "stage 2" cams then you probably aren't looking to make more than 300-350hp so I'd just go with a stock pullout and call it a day vs doing a rebuild.

edit: And as far as the cams you want... Cushman Stage 2 NA cams and do the valvesprings. Will also need a degree service, adjustable TFS crank gear and obviously a tune when all is said and done. Just make sure you get a legit remote tuner or a local dyno tune. Bama/Steeda will not tune for cammed cars.

End goal wise?? I wanta be pushin 550hp.

Just kidding haha, I'd like to be around the 350-375range after a supercharger (even further down the road). I want her to sound mean with the cams and run good. I'm not looking for something I can take to the strip and race.
