It can be a bunch of different things. You would have had to drive a butter smooth trans like a low mileage/fresh rebuilt one to get a good baseline on how it SHOULD feel.

My bad t45 with the notch/grind would nibble going into 2nd all the time, like a light click click click when it went in but would straight up crunch if I tried to quick shift it. A LOT of 3650s have a slight machining error from the factory and they feel kind of like you are pushing the shifter past a few ball bearings stuck in there till they warm up or even after that.

From the sound of that, I'm happy to say that mine seems to shift fine. The only notches I experience are from user error, like shifting too slowly. Otherwise just some weird noise in 5th gear and occasionally 4th when it's cold. The synchromesh helped the most.

Got my check in the mail today. 1/4th of what i paid. Trans is mehh. It shifts in every time going from 1st to 2nd, if i hover in front of 2nd gear for 5 or so seconds. I can feel the sunchros line. Shifting down works great every time. Glad to have the interaction done and over with. Almost seems to shift better when its cold now... Thicker fluid maybe? No clue whats in there

Well the story seems to have come to a **** end. Today while driving home from the city, 60mph in 5th, the trans started making a deafening grinding sound out of nowhere. With a loud knock 5th shot out. Car will not go in 5th or reverse now. All other gears shriek and grind when moving. Once again, incredibly angry.

And I'm guessing they are going to say "case closed" right?

Welp... pull the core and then you can have a brand new one that'll work well for like $1100 after core charges and shipping.

Well I figure I'm going to drain it tonight and see if the correct amount of fluids was in it. If it is then I will go to Russets trans and *****, if not and it leaked out (which I never saw) then I guess I'll just do nothing. Scotty what place exactly are you referring to that rebuilds the cores?

Username on the evilbays is Mantrans. Shop in Minnesota IIRC. They sent me a real nice transmission and they test them all on a trans "dyno" before sending out. They used to not even need cores but now they are doing core charges.

You can also get ahold of Stan at Pro Force Performance (google it). He recently bought out Zak at T45/3650source so he is them too now.

Just thought this was interesting. Took the broken trans apart just for fun. Looks like my reverse gear got eaten up and broke a few teeth. There is also visible ware on 5th gear with tons of metal shrapnel inside. Fair to say this transmission will never work again haha
