Wheels for 04 Redfire GT

To start things off I bought this as my first mustang( I have been wanting one since I was a little kid..Finally got one)and thought I would be able to get some good input from some of you guys. Of course its not the Cobra or Mach 1 I was looking for but when you come across a deal like this you just can't turn it down(55,000 miles for 8grand no mods, clean carfax.) Alright so done with rambling and on to the question.
So I have seen what some of the rims I was looking at looks like on a cobra but as you guys know that on the GT it has the tan decals on it. The rims are the saleens and the FR500 both in black chrome/black/black machined. The other choices were the MMD 552C or the Rovos. If anyone has any pictures of what it could look like on any of those or just show me what you have I would greatly appreciate it. Sorry for the long post Thanks.

Any of those choices will be better looking than stock. Get a staggered set up, 8-9" front, 10-10.5" rears. I like the anthracite FR500s on red, but a lot of people are running those. Ive seem some good looking new edges with the Rovos Durbans in the brushed silver and also black that look good. Either way after you get the wheels you want, you will want to lower it as they look soooo much better. Get a nice spring set 1.5" for the SRs from AM, their actually pretty good if on a budget, and depending on your current shocks/ struts you will want to get some heavier duty ones, and then an alignment. If you want it super sexy go with the HR Supersports. You may then need CC plates to get the alignment back into spec but it will look sexy with the new wheels! Just google your year car, color, and wheel choice and you should get some good images to look at online. Just my 2 cents.

Not gonna lie, I think a Chrome wheels will go better with redfire. If I had a red new edge I would personally go with some chrome 18" Saleens

Also, welcome to the forum, put up some pictures of your ride. I'm sure everybody would love to see it.

Yes on chrome wheels. Say no to black wheels on a red car.

Yes on pictures!

Congrats on buying a Mustang!

Nice pickup for that price for those miles. Post pics. Stick or auto? Most ppl do get the stick but the 04 actually had the best auto to come in a Mustang till 2011.

And nothing wrong with a GT vs a Cobra or a Mach. All a Mach really is is a GT with a 4V and a few other things but nothing crazy or that you can't pretty easily do to a GT.

Agreed with Chrome wheels being better looking on a red car IF its not going to be driven in winter weather. Or just keep the stock rims around for that.

I'm going to be the oddball here who says you'd be better off with a set of 9" wide all around. 17" or 18" rims whichever size you prefer. You can spacer the back to be flush with the fender and having the same tire size all the way around handles better and will allow you to rotate which will also improve your overall longevity/ride quality and save you $$$ too.

Congratulations on your first Mustang. I did a wheel swap on my 2004 GT because I love the look of the cobra wheels.

I had to get a stick I didn't want it any other way. lol. The only thing that sucks about it though is that I live near 2 tunnels(anyone that knows the va beach, norfolk area knows what I am talking about) The traffic is absolutely terrible.

I will definitely get some pictures up for you guys. I have done a few things to it already nothing off the wall of course. First thing I did was got tint. Next was the grill delete but haven't put the chin spoiler on yet. Added a Pioneer head unit(The Mach head unit was driving me crazy no AUX and I needed my bluetooth). Then of course added the Borla ATAKs. I wanted to be different from the crowd of flowmasters and magnaflows(nothing wrong with them)

Hopefully you replaced the Mach unit with the Scoshe harness with the 4 gain adjustments and also the 12v-5v stepdown voltage regulator, otherwise it will pop every time you turn it on. Like the previous owner who installed the HU in my 2000... grumble... still need to fix that but that's way down on the list.

And as far as exhaust, if you REALLY want to be different from the crowd get a set of Dynomax Ultra Flow mufflers. You will not be disappointed.

I just went ahead and paid a local car stereo shop to do it just didn't feel like messing with another car stereo(some of those things can be a real pain in the rear). I dont get the popping noise so they did it right. Heck for what I paid them to do it they better of done it right lol

Another quick question. If I were to say run 10.5 rims in the back what size tire would it need to be? 295/35-18?315/30-18?

He means you probably have a really clean ride and isn't trying to correct you in the name of the color.

If you are gonna run an 18X10 I would put at most a 295 on. I ran a 275 on mine without issues. I don't think there are very many 18X10.5 wheels out for mustangs.

Well... it needs to be lowered at least. The stock 4x4 look is godawful.

yea tell me about it. I park next to some guys at work(one has an 01 cobra the other a 04 mach both lowered) and the ride height is such a huge difference.

Need a chin spoiler, too. That should have been standard equipment.
