Now the quality of the work is the question.

Another question though, I have my rear deck lid blacked out (plasti dipped) should I just plasti dip that back when he's done or should I have him just paint it glossy black while he's doin the rest of the trunk. Tht way It may look more professional, and be easier to clean lol

I know it's a tuff decision things factor in like what if I sell the car one day and the buyer doesn't want it there, that's why I plastdipped in the first place. I just wonder how much better it would look and give it that show, nice quality finish that ppl look at.. Decisions, decisions 😁

I guess I should have gotten more info. I just assumed this was being done at a dealership. Or is a guy that works at one doing it on the side? If a dealership, great deal and should be able to get them to stand by thier work. If it's a side job, I'd be more leary. Check out his work, and ask him to explain what he plans on doing. You don't want someone who is going to half *** it just to make a few bucks on the side.

Yeah I understand that 100% and your right he is doing it as a side job.. Him and his dad have a shop though that's where it will be done at.. And I did go to him with the job he didn't offer it too me.. It just seems if I went to a dealership or a body shop around here I'd probably be looking at triple what I'm goin to pay for this.. He's a family friend so I do trust him, I have not seen a bunch if his work yet though.. I just kind of explained my situation to him and that's what he offered to do it for.. No details on what he will be doing to it yet..

Sounds like your next step is to see his work. If the work looks good and you trust him go for it. Being a family friend and them having a shop would make me a lot more comfortable if it were me. Though I'd likely be present to supervise the work anyway.

I think plasti can be made to look just as good as being painted maybe just not as glossy. It's just the longevity of the plasti dip but u can always re dip tho

I agree if you take your time ppl can really make a plasti job turn out great.. I really like a gloss black finish though I was almost tempted to have him paint the spoiler to just too see what it would look like..

It's easy to go back, just redrill the holes.

^ I kno, I just don't like the idea of a complete waist of money and defeating the purpose of painting it and filling the holes if I'm just gonna go right back to stock, when the plugs are for that...
