So I'm second guessing myself.. I have adjustable crank gears but no cam gears.. You should still be able to degree and time them good shouldn't you? If not just grind down the keys on the factory can gears

You should not have to touch the factory cam gears. The TFS crank gear will give you or the installer all the adjustability they need.

You will need a new tune whenever you change anything having to do with the fuel delivery rate.

MAF is good until you go forced induction. Until then you won't be able to peg out the stocker.

Why? Complete waste of money for your situation.

Agreed, buy a MAF once. And this means don't buy the Lightning 90mm MAF which is a ghetto way to put a bigger "cheap" MAF in your car. Get a 05+ slot style MAF and call it good. I paid $199 for mine from PowerAdder Solutions. In a 3" tube its good for 800hp, move up the tube diameter and its good for 4 figures. Much easier to tune for than the old 04-down style element MAF and pretty much all tuners will tell you to go this route this days with a supercharger.

PAS Xtreme Slot Style Mass Air Sensor w/ Universal Harness & Flange - Power Adder Solutions, Inc. - Mustang Performance Parts

But I got it at a forum discount over on the Corral.

Take anything you see on or from MMR with a grain of salt. MMR=Might Make Raceday.

They're ok as a vendor. I would not let them touch any of my vehicles or pay them to change my oil much less build an engine.

Granted, there are horror stories for every company but just do a little google detective work on MMR and you'll see a disproportionate amount of MMR motors grenading and really shady work. Even when MMR responds its shady, like one time where they said "well the buyer didn't pay us to inspect the block he supplied so we just built him a motor with that block without checking it". Like... yeah ok technically that might have been the buyer's issue but a shop that will even agree to build a motor without checking the block is a shop that needs to go out of business. That's just one example.

Also I'm starting to second guess myself on these cams I've read that guys had to notch their Pistons for the 270's..

But others say that if they are degreed right then it should be okay for the clearance.

But on the other hand the installer is a comp dealer and knows his stuff so maybe I'm overreacting?

They may have to be degreed for clearance, which will bump down the power a little. IMO, for NA cams on a stock piston setup there is one option. CMS Stage 2 cams with a good set of valvesprings.

It may be very close. I mean a good installer is going to check PTV regardless so you'll be ok, but like I said they may have to be degreed.

Frustration x2..

So back in May I dropped my car with a buddy who is AMAZING with performance installs and exhaust work.. But he was pretty backed up and it sat for a month at his shop before I picked it up from being tired of waiting.

Dropped my car off at a shop where I'm living now on Wednesday.. Told me they would start on it Thursday morning.. Checked with them today and at 4pm they still hadn't started..

Should I keep checking in daily or just attempt to be patient until it's done.

Problem is it's my daily and I feel like I'm 12 stuck at home and asking for rides lol

I think I'm more anxious because it's such a dramatic mod and I'll notice something different immediately. And I've got other parts at home I'm waiting to put on too

That sucks. I hate waiting. I would call them when they first open, tell them its already days past due and you woudlnt have dropped it off until Tuesday if they werent going to do it until then. And also that its your only means of transportation. Then call them again in the early afternoon, and again before close if its still not done. As the paying customer you have every right to check in.

I've actually decided to do cams myself while my new PI motor is out after talking to some guys who have been doing PI motors for a looooooong time. Going to do a good final leakdown test and then order some CMS 2.5 blower cams over the winter. Car will sound like an old school muscle car with damn near stock drivability and fully degreed and ready to go from Cushman.

So after the told me it would be done, this is what I walked into when I checked this afternoon before they closed Click image for larger version

Haven't even put the cams in, still putting in the valve springs..

And to top it all off, when they were tearing it down they broke my intake manifold.. Did they pay for it? No I had to go buy one.

Day just gets better and better... I've been using my chevrolegs and lamborfeeties and I'm tired of it.

That really sucks man. I wouldn't take my car back to them if they won't even offer to get you one at dealer price. But in all honesty if your intake ain't really that new, it probably was going to need it soon anyhow.

Yeah but since it went out now and I'm in desperate need of my car I had to just get one from NAPA instead of ordering the FRPP one
