Your opinions please

At last! I have been able to save enough money to have my car painted. It's original color is torch red. Which I originally plan on having it repainted. On the drive to work, i started to think about other colors. The only other color that came to mind, was orange. I've been googling images on both red and orange mustangs. I love them both! Do any of you own either a red or orange mustang? Which do you prefer? Is orange easier to keep clean? Any feedback. Click image for larger version

I like Competition Orange but it is going to be much more expensive to do a color change as opposed to a re-paint of the original color.

Just repaint the car. On my 2011 V6, I was quoted about $3,000 to redo the entire exterior of the car. Keep in mind you will most likely want to do the inside of the engine bay, under the hood, door jams, etc so everything matches. Looking at serious $$ if you want to do the ENTIRE car. Unless you know someone who does a great job and can hook you up.

Be mindful if someone gives you an EXTREMELY low quote. Review their work beforehand and everything. You don't want someone who is just gonna tape off areas and paint. Because once they peel that tape up, it usually starts to tear the new clear coat. Make sure they paint the entire fender, hood, etc and blend around the edges. Make sure they wet sand and buff correctly so everything is even and there are no lines in the paint or weird texture.

There is always the option of wrapping the car with vinyl. If you want to change colors. Test it out for awhile peel it off and go get it painted if you really like it.

Your opinions please

The shop that I am going with, seems to be a really good shop. I mean, i yelped them lol. I seen nothing but positive reviews. Real high ratings. I stopped by and looked at their work in person, and it looked real good.

They're charging me $1500 to repaint the entire car. Meaning they will be sanding it down and primered. They will also be putting on my Cobra wing and shaving off the cobra letterings. I have an appointment to drop off my car on Friday. They told me it is a weeks process.

Every other shop i asked was charging me around 2000-2500. This shop was originally charging me $1800. But the owner was being cool with me and dropped it to $1500. Also, the other shops were charging me more because they said that red is one of the more pricey colors. I'm not sure how true that is.

If you go with factory color don't worry about engine bay and door jams... Saves you cash and those areas don't get beat as bad as the exteriors.... Usually lol

If you do not plan on having the door jambs, engine bay, etc. repainted, go with the original torch red. If you would get those repainted as well to change colors, go orange. That's my opinion!

If I could have my car be any color I wanted for free, I would go between black and this:

But you seem to be into reds and oranges, which I also appreciate. And Im not even sure that a Cobra would look right in this color. The Mach just pulls it off so well that I get aroused.

Edit: Just noticed the driver of this car looks like shes a babe. Id let her handle my stick any day, just worried my clutch wouldn't hold long enough. (Mods, this is purely from an automotive perspective, of course.)

Azure blue and competition orange would be two hard colors to choose from lol

And obviously I'm a fan of torch red because that's the color of my car 😎

Whatever color you do choose just make sure 100% that's what YOU want and not anyone else and never look back !!

I am committing to my cars original color. The great people on here put things in perspective for me. I was not thinking of the door jams, little places like that.

Something different would be nice. But i do love the red, it definitely stands out, and stays looking clean lol.

I am just too excited. I have invested a lot in my car this year.

Also, since they are repainting the car, you could ask to get stripes or something painted on while they have it all sanded down and primed. Might save you some money on that end. And painted stripes are better then decals.

Lol. Stripes are not my cup of tea. The only stripes I like, are in the 13-14 GT500 black on black 😍
