Dodged a MAJOR bullet

So a 2 weeks ago, I heard a rattle from the rear of the car, checked and everything looked good so I assumed it was just a rock in the dust cover or something because it stopped and i didn't hear it again.

Well I was wrong, had the car on the lift today to find rear end oil on the gas tank cover.

Pulled the diff cover and found it to be almost empty of fluid.

After looking harder 3 bolts came out of the carrier Click image for larger version

I re-siliconed the diff cover and lock tighted all the bolts on the carrier and it still is leaking.. I'm having the shop who's installing the cams look at it and see what he thinks because I'm lost

So..............who was the last person that worked on the rearend and changed gears? Not sure I'd return to the that shop again.
In over 50 years of drag/road racing I have never seen ring gear bolts come loose, especially 3!

Thing is probably going to need a new cover and new seal.

I have swapped many rear gears and never had a leak or a loose bolts. They should have had Loctite applied and torqued. If not then I would talk to the installer.
