Flowmaster Series?

I have a 1996 GT with a 2004 4.6 2V PI motor. I have JBA shorty headers & BBK exhaust. I'm wanting to add flowmasters to that but unsure about what series flowmaster would give the best sound. Any suggestions?

I had the 40's on my 2000 GT and loved them, but you will get some
drone in the 2K RPM range.

Bassani is always good. A little cheaper are the Magnaflow Magnapacks, their all stainless as well. No drone, deep tone sound good.

Bassani doesn't sell just mufflers. If your wanting a muffler, hmm. Ive always had a thing for the 44s.

Borla muffler to. But really the main thing that will tone your car is your mid pipe.

I have off road bassani x and slp 1s. There are extremely loud. At 2k rpms it seems like your gunning it.

Im ok with it but ive been told it sounds crap. Also been told its the loudest mustang they have ever heard.

I'd go with flowmaster 40s or super 44s. I have 40s right now but switching to SLP LM1.

+1. I have 44s right now. Love the way they sound. But i want louder. I'm going with LM1 with UPR X.

The lm1 are kinda raspy with an X pipe I've got an H and it sounds a lot more muscley* I had 40's then 10'a them lm1.. The 40's had the best tone but weren't loud enough for me

The SLPs with an H or better yet prochamber have good volume and an amazing tone. I'm biased though and have never cared for any x setup, not for something that will be driven on the streets anyway.

From the description, it says it's SLP LM1 with UPR catted X, he has stock manifolds. I have shortys on mine. Mine could possibly sound slightly different.

Ugh, SLP with an OR pipe is just a resonator setup and just overly loud. Hopefully he does not live in a neighborhood or anything where ppl like... I dunno... work shifts or have little kids because a super loud exhaust like that in a development or something is just prickish.

As far as what sounds best... that is so subjective, that's like asking what food tastes the best. Everyone's idea is different. Personally... high flow catted pipe to a straight through muffler like a Magnaflow/Dynomax/Bassanni etc... and you'll have a very free flowing setup that still sounds good and is noticeably aftermarket and will really scream when you get it up in the high RPM range but won't be just...noise... at lower RPM. Loud does not always equal sounds good.
