Are these really worth the money for standard bolts ons? What brand would you recommend?

A MAF upgrade is not needed for a bolt-on car. Anyone who says differently is an idiot.

You must have a Tornado installed, along with the CAI, Nate.

Its not worth $20.

Your one and only MAF upgrade should be to a slot style (05+) MAF when/if you ever go with a power adder. That is a one time buy and a basic aftermarket one will support up to 1200hp depending on sample tube size.

Like so many things for these cars, the "performance" MAFs are snake oil. Nothing you bolt onto a 99-04 besides exhaust is going to do much for power. If anything. Maybe plenum and TB for a few hp, that's about it.

I swapped to a lighting maf only because there was more to tune with. It is a 90mm but I wasn't expecting any hp. Just got it cause tuner wanted me to have it on for tuning purposes. Something about more air count or something it can read. Really for boosted or nitrous applications.

I asked a few tuners about the LMAF and none of them were thrilled with the idea of ppl using them still. I mean they work and they are cheap but they are not nearly as accurate and easy to work with as the slot MAFs. I am going to be running my new motor right on the edge of what is safe for the stock bottom end so I spent a little extra for insurance in that dept.
