Ready for booooostttttt

So I've finally hopefully got the funds for boost..

Not sure which route I want to go tho, I want to mainly drag race the car and maybe take it out on nice days in the summer for cruises, shows and fun..

Mods as of now are in my sig.

I'm thinking either a KB 2.1 or 2.8, on3 TT kit, or vortech v2..

I've got Manley rods and Pistons and my crank should be okay up till 600 or more..

What do you fellas think?

Go with the turbo setup. I'm thinking about selling my vortech and going turbo myself

Im biased being a long time kb user/fanboy. Nothing, I repeat, nothing compares to a bad *** roots blower for fun factor EXCEPT nitrous and its much the same experience.

Ya if u have the funds a on3 tt kit will shoot u as high as u wanna go on power and always room to grow beyond ur 600 cap if u ever feel the need, i like all 3 tho but ive seen kb users blow up more simply because havin 90-95% of ur boost just off idle is alil stressful on the motor ( but its fun and makes it for a fast car if u can put it down ) a vortech t trim ( or better ) is kinda like a belt driven turbo but makes it easier to put down the power because of the higher rpm the more the boost and if ur at higher rpms chances are ur moving already... All of them can get u to ur 600 cap but its kinda what u like, me personally if i had the time and money id sell my vortech setup and go tt because then ur not capd on power cuz u can alwAys turn the boost up or just upgrade the turbos to where as a belt driven u can only go so much on the pulley and then u worry about belt slip and ur still capd at how fast u can spin it anyhow, turbos are that voilent pull thats so much fun and can take u to whatever power u want, so if u got time and money my vote is a on3 twin turbo foward facin kit

Vortech or On3 if you are going to be drag racing it a lot. If its more for the street I'd just get a KB or a Tork Tech.

Or nitrous.

I'd go with a TT kit. Probably wouldn't need huge turbos to reach the goal so 2 smaller sized ones will build boost extremely quick and give you awesome potential.

I would stick with a single for several reasons cost and maintenance being the top two

2 turbos to break
2 wastegates to maintain & set
2 oil feeds
2 oil returns
2 exhaust downpipes
2 turbo to intercooler setups to plumb

And depending on the turbo you choose boost lag won't be as bad as you might think.

A properly sized and setup single turbo will be in full out spool way earlier than ppl will lead you to believe.

Scotty I agree! I've seen several dyno here and people go to big and it takes three miles to spoil it up! You have to size the turbo for your needs and motor application. Hell I have a single kit still in the box and to this day I still think about a kb 2.1 cause my car is a daily driver and an auto. But when you ride in them that turbo is nasty and just doesn't stop pulling!

Autos and turbos go together like peas and carrots. Centris are good with autos too TBTH. Spool the thing up on a transbrake and hold on to your bologna.

So with a stick what's the best way to spool up and launch? And from a roll as well?

2 step from a dig. Brake boost from a roll.

With a stick what ever boost you don't have at launch you will have by 2500 rpms and when it comes on the turbo just keeps pulling!!! But yes a two step will allow you to build boost with a el Manuel! Iam not taking anything away from a kn like I said I still contemplate one myself but they make nasty low end kinda fall off on the big end. Turbo makes nasty big end power! Just think about what kinda money you want to spend where you want to be your future plans and make your choice from that. Either way you'll be happy. Turbos just have endless ability as opposed to the kb and it dosnt take power to make it like the blower. Hope all that bs helps cause I know you pain in choosing but from what I've risen in here seen on the Dyno the turbo is pretty bad ***

Yep, 2 step to build boost with a manual and there is always a WOT box for no lift shifting but nothing is going to be as good in a straight line from a stop as a good auto. From a roll the manual will kill the auto tho all other things being equal. Also in handling the manual wins.
