LED bulbs

Bought me pair of fogs and headlights to help see at night, both set are LEDs. When driving few miles, the fogs will turn off and I will have to turn them back on. Is it not enough watts?

That's kinda weird. Our cars don't have issues with fog light bulb resistance (or lack of). Maybe they have some internal overload circuit on them to keep them from burning out..? I know really bright one, like over 1000 lumens, often have heat shrink coming out of them to dissipate heat from the bulb. Some even have fans. My LED headlight bulbs have little fans on the end. If you have those braided heat sinks, you might try fraying them out more or in a different way to see if that's the problem.

My fog light bulbs are low lumen and really don't reach down the road very far. They match the headlights perfectly though, which is what I wanted at the time. They don't get hot that I've ever noticed.

No, not really. I mean I can tell its switching on, but you can hardly see a difference. Mine haven't had any flickering or shutting off probs. Do your fogs have fans too?

LED bulbs

Yeah, my headlights are pretty similar to those. Best guess is they are getting hot and shutting off internally. Or maybe internally inside the power pack.

Mine don't light up that for for sure lol. I had planned on getting new fog bulbs later on. I wanted to get something that matched the color.

Same. Trying to stick with 6k. It's not bad. So far my fogs been staying on but I would have to manually turn them off and back on to work.

The sure look nice. But how is the downrange beam look? Does the light travel further than halogen bulbs? I have been wanting LED bulbs for a while but haven't got them yet because everywhere I look it doesn't show the downrange beam.

I know what you mean. You never see the truth lol. It's like bagged Mustangs, they look great just sitting there all aired out. But who just sits there lol?

I made a comparison back when I put mine in. It turned out exactly how I was expecting, so I wasn't disappointed.

You can ^see how the housings don't handle the light the same.

^The light is still pretty good IMO. My fogs are doing nothing further than a few feet out really. They are more like daytime running lights. The LED do seem to light up objects better than halogen's do. The signs are easier to see. It just doesn't seem to show directly on the street. I'm not sure how they all compare to HID's., but they are in the same boat. Housings made for the light would do wonders for them.

Kinda seems like the halogens project further. What brand are they?

Yup, they do. Though, they don't light up objects as well as the LED's do. I think they would be 10x better if the housings were made for LED's.

The brand is "New Brights". I bought them on Amazon for $99. They are cheaper now I think. If I wanted to buy some now, I would buy from SuperBrightLEDs. They didn't have this type of 9007 bulbs at the time. They have a warranty and I've bought many LED's from them with success.

It would be cool if someone could do a comparison with halogen and HID's like I did. Only reason I stayed clear of HID's is because I heard of so many of them having reliability issues.

Where there any fitment issues with the fan and the plastic ring? What all did you do?

No, it fit pretty well. The hardest part was finding a good place to wire tie the power pack. It's shaped like the ballasts for HID lights. I removed the cold air on from the passenger side to install. I thought about removing the battery on the drivers side, but didn't have to in the end.

Here's a shot with the ring. The way I understand it, Ford had a few different rings and one or more has to be modified to fit certain setups. I didn't have to. I believe LMR sells the rings that will work. Maybe AM does too. I've never looked to confirm though.

Thanks for all the info. I think I have the same ring you have. I might give LED headlights a try. I wanted to start a thread a while back about them for people's opinions, but this thread is a good one!
