Custom sub enclosure

Was going to attempt this diy rear seat delete kit this coming christmas break. I have a pair of 12 inch mtx terminator subs and i like the way they sound in their current box. But i was planning to mount them on the seat delete facing the cabin like the instructions said. Just wondering if anyone knows how that would change the sound of the subs as ive never done any work building boxes or anything like that. Any input would help! Thanks.

you need what i think is called "Free air subwoofers" i cant remember the actual name. most subwoofers you buy today are not and require a box. partially to make them sound their best, and partially to keep them from breaking i believe. ive always heard experts say that it is not good for a regular sub to run it outside of its box. it needs certain pressures, which is why box size is important to match to your sub. there are free air subwoofers out there though. my wifes nissan sentra came with 2 of them mounted int he rear deck.

other than that, unless you mount and seal it up real good, it looks like a recipe for rattles.

it may take a ton of extra work but you may be able to make a sub box out of this whole fixure, and have it mount flush in the backseat to look like it does in the link.

See yeah thats what i was wondering about. Ill do more research. Yeah i already have a box for them so if it wouldn't work then i will make the box flush with them so that i can still have them oriented like in the guide
