theft light flashing and sputtering?

So yesterday when I drove home from work I noticed my theft light flashing after leaving, it starting slowing down then after a minute it disappeared. My car on the highway also started to sputter at 3000+. I did some research and people are saying it could the Throttle Position Sensor, need new fuel filter or air filter? Oh and I have a check engine light on for about a month. Any ideas whats going on?

Have the code(s) read and post them here (check engine light indicates you have a code or two stored). If you don't have a code reader, take it to a decent automotive parts store and have them scan for them; most will do it for free.

Ya we need codes, plus the theft light flashing is an issue but they dont usually cause problems once the car is started, the theft system would prevent u from starting the car, im wondering tho if u have a ground issue starting because thats only how it could be related to sputtering, but get the codes read and we will go from there

Sorry for the late reply, been out of town. But I probably should have mentioned the code before I left so my bad. Its a P0456 (EVAP System Leak Detected *says on the tuner "very small leak). As for the theft system it hasn't happened since it accorded that one time so from what I read my battery might be dying soon. The code didn't affect my performance btw as I got my car dynoed yesturday and numbers where spot on from what they should have been. If I could get some help on the code and what to do that would be great guys. thank you

First thing, check your gas cap to make sure it's tight. Then inspect it for any causes that would cause it not to seal like cracks or Knicks in the o-ring. Faulty gas cap is the most common reason for this code. Here are some more ideas:

A small leak in any of the EVAP hoses or fuel tank hoses. A small leak in the purge valve or vent valve. The EVAP Canister may be leaking.

Thanks for the helps guys. Old one was cracked because someone hit and run me there earlier this year and it was cracked. Got a new gas cap and the engine code hasn't come back yet! For the sputtering tho I believe I found the issue. I put back on my stock H-pipe for the winter before thanksgiving just because here in St. Louis the car is Soooo loud with wheel spin from the snow to where it would get me in trouble with the police (sounds awesome tho). I think the cats are bad or clogged. Here are my symptoms: Idle gets worse each week but not too bad it just slightly bounces around, It has good days and bad days, at idle is sounds like blub blub blub out the exhaust pipe almost like it was cammed, runs fine from idle to 2500 then starts misfiring from 2500-3000 and anything past that runs like crap and nothing but misfires, just with the SLP LM catback on it makes a loud rumble sound when misfiring and is a simular sound to when you loose traction when traction control is on and it cuts the power to the wheels, btw no codes either. Before I went off and bought SLP's catted X just wanted to be sure. What do you guys think it is? Merry Christmas to all as well
