Well these are obviously track only cars or at least a car I would not want on most of the roads around here the way they are paved.

I would like to know and do the same. But when i still lived at home i did and paid some ridiculous money for things on my cars too. That was back in my "tuner" days, days that im not proud of, but hey it was 1999 and the Fast and Furious had just come out! I would like to add i had my "tuner" cars before the movie came out though, lol. I can tell you that you havent lived until you feel the Vtec kick in.....I had a highly modified 99 Civic SI i sunk a bunch of money into, then got my 04 SRT4 a couple years later. They were very fun cars though and both would easily kick my current Mustangs a$$ for sure. Heck my daily is faster than my 96!

Lol there's a few tuners that come to the shop I hang out at and yes if it wasn't for traction those little pissed off weed eaters will roll!! Hell Ralph that works there has a 90's supra with 33,000 original miles on it that makes 1,300 at the wheels with that little straight 6 big turbo and 300 shot of gas! He has a small mint tied up in it but that supra he can get his money out of! I wish I had it like that but at 42 years old divorced and child support my 2002 stang will have to do! Lol

I owned a 67 Camaro and had friends with firebirds and 396 Chevelle's. My 2014 Cyclone stock ran 13.9 1/4 mile. The 396 had the same time. These "electronic hot rods" have come a long way.

Oh god I remember that time... I had just joined the Air Force in 2001 (right before 9/11 actually) and the FaTF movie thing was going full force. Every other damn car in the dormitory parking lots was some kind of rider with a fart can, neons, gaudy ebay **** all over it... And they all thought my 91 Fox was a joke. Joke was on them lol.

Properly done, its bad to underestimate some of these tuners. My father in law is a Honda master tech and one of the other techs he works with has a Civic making damn near 600 to the front wheels. Dude apparently has a metric assload of money in it. As for the Supra... most overrated car there is. Also one of the most beautiful and yeah... he'll get his money out of it.

There's also a guy with an eagle talon that comes in the shop it makes 1100 at the wheels! With that said that fragile piece has never ever made a full pass! EVER! Always breaks something but it's a damn 4 banger the turbos are bigger than the motor! Lol

The DSM cars I've seen are so tempermental... The ones I have seen work are always the 1st generation ones. There was a guy at Dover that had a pretty quick Laser, like a basic 300hp jobber but with AWD and weighing nothing it moved the hell out.

But I think a huge mistake some ppl make is underestimating the tuner cars. Yeah, the FaTF stigma is there in spades but in a way its almost beneficial for them because its easy to surprise someone that way.

Although I will say there was literally no crowd in the early 2000s worse than the SRT4 community. Not saying there weren't fast ones or that it wasn't/isn't a really nice starter car to modify for the price but omg some of the ppl I ran into... made the Civic crowd look like a bunch of car gurus lol.
