Tomorrow I'm going going to finish grinding all of my piston rings, I'm going to go ahead and grind them for boost, so it will have some excess blow by until I get the turbo or turbos on, but that won't hurt too bad.

Finally feel like I can actually accomplish something now that my parts are in

Got some more done today, got the Pistons and rods attached, got 3 of them in and torqued down, it's a tedious task because I have file to fit rings to a specific spec for boost so I can't just throw em together and go. But it's coming along Click image for larger version

But I'm just glad I can finally truly build the car how I've wanted to.

Next week is spring break which sucks because I won't be able to get anything done since I won't be at school, but it should go together pretty quick now.

Still have one head to port/polish, then assemble the heads and start with the dreaded timing and degreeing

So since it's going to be a n/a for a couple months after the engines done, I'm really debating picking these up just so I can have something that's better than factory manifolds.Click image for larger version

I know they aren't some name brand but i can machine them at school so they seal, and with my tubular k, fitment won't be an issue

Haha I didn't even realize it posted anything. I just woke up and was fumbling around on my phone and apparently fat fingers a post. I've been following the thread for a while and have been enjoying the progress so far

Already compromising...well it starts with compromise then turns into just being plain submissive. All in good fun, as you said your fiancé supports your car problem and thats great!

First day back from spring break and although the motor doesn't look very different progress was definitely made.

Got the ARP head studs in, the block gasket surfaces cleaned. As well as the rear main seal and back plate on and torqued to spec.Click image for larger version

Tomorrow I am hoping to get the driver head ported/polished, cleaned and I already did the valve job on it with the other head today.

While I'm doing that I should be able to get the cam and valve train installed on the passenger head and have it bolted done and have a half *** long block by tomorrow!

Still waiting on the Eddy intake I ordered February 19th. Apparently they are on a national back order.

Going to order a clutch, injectors, wideband gauge, 2 step, and valve covers tomorrow as well

Didn't get the drivers head ported but I checked the PTV with clay on the passenger side.
So I had to take it on and off twice. But she is good so tomorrow I'll do one final good cleaning of the passenger head and cam area and get it in time and bolted down.

Not sure what I'm going to do timing yet, I'm gonna use the engine analyzer (desktop dyno) we've got and see what's best on there.

Well today was a very very ****ty day.

At school we have groups for each project so I've got myself and two other students in my group.

We dropped the cam in and when we went to tighten down the cam caps a bolt was gettin really tight before it was all the way down, so we backed it out so we could tap the hole. Well one of the guys in my group broke the tap off inside of one of the cam cap bolt holes.

It's broke off pretty far down. With the head being aluminum I can't use a torch, and I can't drill it out because I can't get a bit strong enough to go thru the tap.

If I can get it out I can helicoil it.

I don't think it would be a good idea to leave the bolt out.

And I definitely don't have the money to get a new head.

Any suggestions?

Ouch...

I don't know what would be worse, the fact that the other guy did it or that it wasn't you.

Good news today.

Got a bit and was able to get about half of the tap drilled out, so only half left. It looks promising! So hopefully by mid next week I should have it out, helicoil and tap the hole and get it fixed.

I got the drivers side cylinder head exhaust side ported today as well.

So by the time I get the hole fixed next week I should have the other head ported and polished.

The cowl hood, Eddy intake, valve covers and my new headlights and good struts shipped.

Still need to order the clutch, injectors, throttle body, 2 step and wideband.
