Didn't do much today, I had stored all of my little parts, trim, hoses inside the car so I cleaned that out, pulled the drivers seat so I can run the power wire for the battery relocation.

I took a wire wheel and cleaned a spot in the trunk area to ground the battery, got that cable ran, dropped the tank and got the hold down rods in, box installed and I went ahead and hooked up the ground.

Tomorrow I'll run the power wire and get that stuff taken care of. My head comes in Wednesday so I'll get started on porting it Thursday

More progress made on the battery relocation.

Got the power wire ran from the battery in the trunk under the car following where the EVAP lines used to be.Click image for larger version

It was nice because it snapped in the same clips as the big stainless evap line

All of the lines have their ends crimped on.

I'm also wiring in a cut off switch, got a hole cut in the bumper to mount itClick image for larger version

So everything will be wired like this.

Power: cable from battery to starter, smaller factory wire from starter to the fuse box, another smaller gauge from alternator to the cut off switch, and cable from cut off to battery.

Ground: battery is grounded to chassis in trunk, factory ground running from block to radiator support.

Am I missing anything?

Will this cut off switch be okay? I already had it laying around

Where to go next

Can that red key come out of the switch? If so I wouldn't personally use it. It can get lost or someone take it. It's crappy to think about but people do take stuff from our cars if it ain't bolted down. Also have you thought about soldering the connections? Not just for strength, but for better conductivity. A soldered Vs un soldered has measurable differences in conductivity. Also if your power wire so happens to vibrate even slightly that's resistance to current flow. Also I can't tell very well but are your connections bolted with a nut securing it or self tapping?

I actually like the removable key, you just keep it in the glove box when not at the track so asshats don't steal it or whatever. I've never seen that particular one but if its the correct item for what you need then don't see why it wouldn't work.

I was just told it might not be heavy duty enough but it's a 100 amp so I think it's fine, plus I've got 3 keys.

Also my head is here! I'm heading to the college now so I'll get started porting today!

Nice, get those things matched up! Must be so nice to know how to do that stuff and have the tools to do it... you pay like $1800 for a set of fully ported PI heads from somewhere like MHS.

I know! I mean yeah they are CNC from a place like that so they maybe a little more shiny then what mine are but flow numbers are what matters.

So if my heads flow 40 cfm or more than stock at all lifts then I'll tack that down as a win

I'd nut and bolt it with a locking nut. Self tappers aren't what you'd want to do it with. Do you know if the 100 AMP rating is for continuous or intermittent current flow.

Since it came assembled I had to tear it down to bare bones, then port it.

I ported non stop from 12-2:30 flow benched it, went back and ported a little more and flowed it once more to get it matched to the other side.

So tomorrow I will get the timing chain and everything done on that side then on goes the intake and it's gonna simple assembly from here!

I am hoping to be staring at a complete long block tomorrow, then it's just a matter of buying the last few items.

I've got a checklist of things still needed to do/buy:

-Buy headers (ebay or pacesetter) will only need them for a few months
-Buy injectors
-Get a brass fitting for the intake to get the vacuum line situation fixed.
-Buy the fluids
-Buy spark plugs
-Finish the battery cut off switch wiring
-Weld the exhaust back up

I'm sure im leaving a few small things out but hopefully it goes smoothly

I'm probably going to go wth ngk iridiums.

But today is a great day, I actually can see the progress now. And it's only a matter of days now until D-day!

Got the other side in time, rolled it over a bunch, then double checked timing again to make sure it's all correct.

Got both valve covers on and torqued, oil pan on and torqued, front cover on and torqued, harmonic balancer on and torqued.

I'm actually pretty happy with my color choices as well, tomorrow I'll get the brass fitting for the intake vacuum lines, and get the accessories on and then it's just matter of finishing the battery cut off switch wiring.

Still need to order headers, injectors and plugs

I had pacesetter longtubes before.

But when I go on3 they have those forward facing ones so I am probably going to just do eBay longtubes since it's just gonna be on there for few months.

Plus my mid pipe is for longtubes already so I won't have to fab as much

Ebay ones... i had bad luck especially if they are OBX or some ****. I'd get the pace setters and then re-sell them to someone for like $150 when you are done... that's just me.

These don't look too bad, I mean idc if they rust, besides if they need any kind of minor welding, or making this mating surface smooth I can while I'm still at the school.

Those look very similar to the OBX headers I once got. Those TIG welds are very badly done and you can even see it in the pic they provide. I mean you can clean it up for sure if you can weld stainless and have the tools but... I dunno if its only for a few months they'll probably hold. Just FYI the OBX longtubes I once tried were for a 94/95 and they fit like crap and I had to dent the **** out of one of them for the steering shaft to clear. YMMV.

I got a little further today, got a lot of the accessory brackets, pulleys on. Also got a oil filter on. Went ahead and followed Scott's advice and went with autolite iridiums.

Went to put in the Msd coils but ran into a small snag.

The factory gold screws that hold the coils on will not work with the different Eddy threads, which the intake came with new coil bolts but they will not fit thru the Msd bolt holes, so I gotta drill them out slightly.

But I got all the pipe fittings on and torqued and thread taped.

Also, buddy of mine here at the college was building a motor and he got a mishimoto catch can kit as a gift a while back and he was going to put it on the Honda he was building but he let me buy it off him new in the box for 20$ and a case of beer, so I got a hell of a dealClick image for larger version

I've found a good deal on some very slightly used Siemens 60lb injectors.

Are they any good? Or should I just fork out 360$ and get new FRPP 60lbers

With used injectors, it is always good practice to send them out and get them cleaned/flow tested and rebuilt if necessary. I need to do that with my 42lb Green Giants still.

To be totally honest... if you are going to buy injectors get Injector Dynamics. Go straight to ID1000s and not have to worry about it again. With ported heads and that intake and a blower and some decent cams you are going to be pushing the 700whp mark depending on how much you hogged out those heads.

I will be going with IDs when I upgrade the trans to take more than 500hp. My Green Giants were free so no reason to not use them in my case...

I agree ID's are the way to go however, I have to order injectors, headers and the last few touches in the next week and I have no where near enough cash for them lol

So with that being said, I could order the headers and injectors from AM or just go with the used siemens injectors for cheap.

Yeah I totally get being on a budget... I'm re-using a lot of **** from these motors I got and selling off a lot and kind of cobbling it together but you can still do that and be reliable. Seimens injectors are decent. Not the best but they will work fine. If they are pretty new with minimal run time and you know that for sure and on a tight budget then yeah go for it.

I was recommended the Siemens injectors by my tuner and from what I was reading (can't confirm if it's true) Ford Racing just rebranded the Siemens Deka injectors and sold them as their own.

Got the coils bolted down, and I stuck my cai on there to try to figure out my pcv situation.

The old BBK tb had two hoses going into it Click image for larger version

But the eddy only has one spot, which is the hose for the iac, so what do I need to do about that?

so the old PCV system was set up as follows

-the pcv valve on the passenger valve cover had a hose that ran to the old throttle body.

-the cold air intake tube had 2 fittings with one hose going to the iac and the other going to the drivers valve cover.

I have that catch can and the valve covers have baffles to prevent excess oil splashing thru breathers.

So I guess I could delete the pcv and just run the catch can, what do yall think?

Gonna order injectors Friday.

Also ordered the bell housing bolts today as well.

I'd just delete the pcv and egr and run a catch can. As long as my tune can keep the obd2 stuff reporting ready for emissons.
