Vapor management valve

What the hell is it? What does it do? Can it be removed? I found it on the inside of my passenger fender

04 GT: CAI, 3.73, Longtubes, Full exhaust, Comp Cams 270's, Short throw, Pullies, BBK 73mm TB, MSD coils, 47lb injectors, MPT tuned, Steeda lowering springs, Front strut bar, MM caster camber plates and the list goes on.

As far as I know it returns excess pressure from your fuel tank from heat expansion and what not into your intake system. I would not mess with unless you wanna install a breather in its place and smell like a gas station all the time.
