Promotional credit

I have $100 in promotional credit at AM that expires in March. What should I buy?

I'm tempted to put it towards tail lights, smoked OEM style or the new Raxiom Icons (still way too expensive, that's what's holding me back).

Other things I've considered:
- honeycomb deck lid (a lot of money for three pieces of plastic)
- brushed door sill plates
- hood strut kit
- driver's side seatbelt/retractor (I wrote the instructions for the passenger side, where I got the credit. I know it'll need replaced, this would probably be the most practical and least exciting)

I also have purchased a DOHC motor that I'm tempted to swap in eventually, is there anything I should look for that project?

I say out it towards something you wouldn't normally buy to take the sting out of the price. I dig those decklid inserts for your car you were talking about.

That decklid insert is a textbook thing to take the sting out... $140 is high for no more than what you get! What I don't like about the one on AM is it doesn't allow for the emblems like the one on LMR. I just don't know about sticking the GT and Ford on top of the AM piece...

I say, either the decklid inserts or the hood struts. Both are things on my own list haha decklid inserts seems most exciting, though

I had this exact dilemma a few months ago and I caught the smoked OEM style Raxioms on promotion for under $100.

I'm not a huge fan of the icons anyway and even if I was... WAY too much damn money for some tail lights.

I will say tho, the Raxioms are not super darker than the stockers. I'll have to get some pics, they are not installed yet. Its noticeable and I'm not regretting buying them but if you expect them to be blacked out you will be disappointed.

I think that's the direction I'm leaning. I agree, the Icons are WAAAAAAAAAY too expensive for taillights. Having not seen them in person, I just don't know how I feel about them.

So does AM have a Valentine's Day sale?

But $375! Plus more because I like sequentials!

I paid $93 shipped for the Raxiom smoked tails and the sequential kit I am getting is $65 but I'm not getting it till I fire the car up because I don't want the kit sitting for a few more months and then not work for some reason and I can't return it.

I will not be buying the Raxiom sequential kit tho, hellz no.

I forget what my kit cost, I'm thinking $100?

That's not a bad price. I keep thinking if I buy them, I'll find them on eBay for less.

Mustang Taillight Sequencers |Tail Light Sequencers | Sequential

These were the originals and still the best. No getting gouged on a $50 blinker relay or whatever Raxiom charges either. And they blink slower than the Raxioms with the relay too.

Mine had a "slower" flasher that could be purchased, which I did. For whatever reason, if it was plugged in, the flasher clicked like it does when the turn signals are on. The seller refunded my money and I've lived with them, although I like them slower (like my 68 Cougar slow).

They look even better in person, worth every penny. 100 off? For me it would be a no brainer, get some Icons!

I actually looked up your thread because I knew you had them and had a white car like me! I was hoping you'd have the deck lid panel or at least have it blacked out.

I'm not a fan of the blacked out look, but again, I do love my Icons. I'm ordering a set for my wife's 99.

I've wondered about going with a blue deck lid instead of black to match my calipers I painted blue. And then that lower spot on the bumper in blue as well.

I like the Icons more on dark cars or they've got to have the blacked out deck lid.

Mine is currently plasti-dipped and I'd like to either get it painted or the deck lid panels put on.

I'm gonna have to say I do not like the Icon lights at all. To me they look cheap. There's a guy down the block from me with a set on a silver 01 GT. At 1st I wasn't sure about them but after seeing them on his car time and time again I've decided NOPE. At night when lit up they even look cheaper with the multiple LED dots. Just scream Fast n Furious to me. Not a clean look but this is my opinion. To each they're own...

Drumroll please!

I ordered the Raxiom smoked, OEM style. After forum discount and my $105 credit, they're costing me all of $12.49. Can't beat that!

After seeing lots of pictures on AM (looking at these lights) I've decided I need a Cobra (shaved of course) rear bumper. Add that to my someday list!

You made a sound decision. I like the OEM smoked tails. Im kind of undecided on the Icons. I like them on some and dont on others but never feel like I hate them. I know I will never get them because their just too expensive for tailights to me.

I think you will love the look of your smoked tails and the black deck lid. I know Im going with the black deck lid but I dont know I want to spend the money on the smoke tails as mine are in great shape anyway.

And with the smoked tails I dont think it will be too much black because the smoked lenses arent super dark

Agh, you're making me jealous. I want to buy those and the honeycomb decklid for my car with my paycheck, but I should probably hold out and get my gears and LSD installed... it's still very tempting to just blow my money

Post pics when ya get them on!

I'll definitely post pics!

I want the honeycomb deck lid too but that's going up have to wait. Given its winter I thought tail lights would be an easier install.

Haha

Even for $250, I'm not taking that gamble. Plus it was easy to sell $12.49 to the wife, $250 would've been impossible!

Great choice! I have a set on my 03 and will get a set for the Mach soon. The light smoked look is great and I love that the reverse lights are clear so you don't attract the "wrong" attention lol.

I think the tint is perfect on them. Never was a huge fan of the VHT blacked out look.

If you show the car or just like popping the hood a lot I'd invest in some of hood struts. They are a nice upgrade over the factory prop rod. The MMD set on American Muscle install easy, work great and is $80.

Finally got around to installing the Raxiom smoked lights today. I love them!

On a side note, does anywhere sell new of these things? That weird screw on retainer for trunk liner, broke off when I went to take it off. I didn't even eat my Wheaties today!

Are those the ones that you unscrew to remove the insulator at the opening of the trunk on either side?

I broke the little retainer that's further in on the side insulators that seems to have no way to remove, though I figured it didn't matter, because the bolt it screws onto sticks out the opening on the insulator, so it's still held in place

Also, with the honeycomb, those taillights look awesome. I've always loved the smoked stuff on a white Mustang
