head gasket

I have to replace head gaskets on a 96 2 valve also rear main seal. Can i,do the rear main with engine in or do i need to pull it? Can i pull engine and 4r70w trans as one? I want to put a b&m shift kit in also. Also i read about locking the cams when pulling heads but i searched and cannot find the lock tool. Any ideas?

Pull them both, but prepare for a mess lol

I just pulled mine last week for a complete rebuild/forged internals and stuff.

So just save the time and pull the motor it will make changing everything else really easy

04 GT: CAI, 3.73, Longtubes, Full exhaust, Comp Cams 270's, Short throw, Pullies, BBK 73mm TB, MSD coils, 47lb injectors, MPT tuned, Steeda lowering springs, Front strut bar, MM caster camber plates and the list goes on.

I learn from the best lol and from experience. I just know how big of a pain some of the bell housing bolts are, and I did my cam swap with the engine in the car and that was a big enough pain lol

This is available for purchase from Rockauto.
Your local auto parts store probably has "loaner" camshaft lock tools that you can borrow. http://www.lislecorp.com/divisions/p...nid=587&jpid=0
