License plate light issue - Mustang Evolution

License plate light issue

It wont turn on, the bulbs were shot the socket was a little burnt, and even after replacing the bulbs with lmr leds they wouldnt come on. How do i fix this?

Any corrosion?
Try to clean up the contacts.

License plate light issue

I'd say to look in the socket and see if there is corrosion. If so you can try some electronics cleaner. Hobby stores should have it as well as other places. Even battery terminal cleaner from parts store should work. May have to use small scrap piece of wire to scrape/loosen any corrosion or debris. Repeat the process until it appears clean. Disconnect your negative battery terminal before doing this!

Well ima try that, also is there any wiring or something that isnt on the trunk that would cause it not to work? Every light works except for the plate

Also make sure the socket is dry and add a dab of dielectric grease before installing your new bulbs.

If its corroded then my guess is that's your problem. It may have worked itself into the wiring itself but it don't hurt to try cleaning them up 1st. Go from there....

Yeah the housings were cracked and painted over by the previous owner, im also gonna see if any of the wiring behind the side carpet thing came loose

Hi, Want me to drop my wife off there!! Any how,a small piece of emery or sand paper will work nice to clean it up. Check your fuses, someone could have put a larger size fuse in there. good luck

All my fuses were ok and looked normal, and i havent had the time yet lol

I cleaned them and used the grease and got my passenger side to work
