Traction control

I recently bought an 04 mustang Gt 5 speed. I was wondering why it doesn't have the button for traction control ?

Traction control was an option that you could add on to the car when you ordered it. A lot of GTs didn't come with it.

That means you don't have it and it should always be off.

That. I don't have a tune, but I always put my 13 in sport mode before I leave.

+1 99% of those who tune the 99-04's with it set it to default off when the car starts up. In some cases traction control can be more dangerous rather than safe.

It's on by default. When you start the car traction control is activated. Pressing the button turns it off until you press the button again and reactivate it or turn the car off.

The system basically retards fuel to the engine effectively "stalling" the engine in a way. The idea is it allows the wheel(s) to gain traction by cutting rotation down allowing the tires to grab, but it's never really been effective for me.

Both of my cars are re-tuned to deactivate TC upon startup.

Yah if you want it off you will have to manually turn it off. If you get a handheld tuner like an SCT X4 you can re-program the car to deactivate it by default.

Well if you're trying to launch and hook up TC will probably f*ck you over because it cuts power making your attempt to actually get moving harder.
