Lash adjusters?

Car is fine untill the engine warms up then it makes a faint tapping noise in the engine bay but underneath the car has the most noise. I somehow managed to get the noise on video. But the car runs normally like nothing is wrong and when the engine is revved its still there but very very quietly.

Listened to it a couple times. Sort of hard to pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from which is probably a good thing because that means is most likely a lash adjuster.

I first thought it might be a tensioner but it would be most noticeable towards the front for obvious reasons.

I would say the most noise is actually coming from under the car but if its a lash adjuster i was told that is allot cheeper to fix than allot of other things possible so i guess thats good

Try going to 10w30 and see if that doesn't quiet it down some. I have 2 lash adjusters that need to be replaced. A heavier oil is a bandaid that will keep the lash adjuster primed longer.

Lash adjusters?

Valvoline full synthetic high mileage. I use that with a couple ounces of Lucas TB ZDDP additive.

Try the oil first. Like I said. It won't fix the worn out lash adjuster. It will help it hold its prime and not deflate as bad.

Well today i drove it about 15miles to a meet, i got there and the car made no noises, let it sit for 2hrs then i crank it up and drive it 5miles and the noise is back. Ive been told a knock and lash adjusters cant go away and come back so any other ideas than an exhaust leak?

I can't think of anything under the hood that sounds like a zap while malfunctioning. Any possibly video? I know the AC system can make a whirring noise somethings.

I can't hear anything like you're talking about man. It's very hard to diagnose noises over the Internet.

That may fix the noise your hearing. Run the heavier oil like suggested, go to an exhaust shop, most give you a free estimate Im sure. They will be able to tell you if you have something like that going on. My 96 has a slight thin sounding (the only way I can describe it "thin") noise that I get at a certain rpm. Its when Im in traffic and I let the clutch out but only moving about 15 mph and Ill hear it. Normal driving I dont. Its something on my exhuast rattling or a trans mount or something making slight vibration noise. Could even be vibrating linkage somehwere, I dont know. But they should be able to give you an idea. At least that way you can not worry about it

That has happened to me a few times in my life. Maybe not a noise but an issue or whatever wont replicate itself
