Exhaust

Finally got my car back. Swapped out the engine now back to modding. I'm planning to get exhaust next. I was looking into the Spintech Catback but I hear the Flowmasters 40 sound pretty good too. Any other exhaust sound pretty good? I'm looking for the rumble deeper tone.

Personally, I think Flowmasters are perfect for 2Vs.

Off road BBK x mid pipe, with Magnaflow Magnapacks welded in is what I have on my 96 GT. Loud of course at WOT, nice deep tone at idle, a little rasp but not bad, you will get some of that with any x pipe and straight thru mufflers. It sounds really good tho IMO, many compliments on it. I had SLP 1s for about a week, basically the time it took to get the Magnapacks shipped to me, I didnt love them. SLP 2s do sound good tho, better to me than the 1s. It was too much rasp, jake brake sound for me. I have 40 Flowmasters welded in from previous owner on my 03 and they do sound good, classic Mustang sound. I want to leave them cause their like new and get an off road h mid pipe, a guy at work has this and tho it sounds like many Mustangs, when I hear his I love the sound still, even if "over done". But with Flows if you do a lot of highway driving it can drone bad, they rust out fairly quick if exposed to the elements, but will still last a few years at that. Im a fan of many exhausts, no right or wrong with exhuast beauty is in the ear of the beholder. Listen to sound clips on youtube and vendor sites and see what you like. Always do your research as you are now, lol, ive just bought stuff like this before on a whim and regretted it, buyers remorse is the worst.

Dynomax Ultra Flows. I am the only person I have ever met in person to run them and I was ALWAYS getting asked what the hell exhaust I was running when I had the car I ran them on. They have a nice deep mild tone at idle, they do not drone at all they will not be obnoxiously loud at lower RPMs but will absolutely SCREAM when you punch it.

The price is right too

What I paid for mine back in 2003... damn...

There's not too much that doesn't sound good on the 2V's.

The Pypes Pype Bomb catback with the M80's sounds pretty good. Has a nice deep rumble at idle and at WOT with factory cats. Would only get better with an o/r h pipe.

Fitment and quality is much better than some other Pypes products in past years.

That was not on the car I have now, that was on a 95 Cobra with shorties and an OR pipe. With the VRS X they would sound godlike on a 2V. I am actually using a VRS catted pipe on my current 2V, its pretty much the best X pipe you can get for shorty headers.

Just FYI, the VRS pipe is the UPR pipe, they make them for UPR. If you can get it cheaper on UPR get it there. Use the checkout code SHAZAM for 5% off on the UPR site.

Not many run spintechs, they're my new personal fav next to Borla and Bassani and they sound amazing. If I ever decide to run mufflers those would be my choice, everyone has flows and slps

It's between the Spintech Catback & the one you said, I'm definitely going with the UPR o/r x pipe so whichever would sound beefier will be my choice. I don't want much rasp though.

They both sound great. Spintechs and Dynomax are both not very common. I'd be going back to the Dynomaxes if my current car didn't have a mint condition stainless steel Bassanni which is also not super common. Although more common than Spintechs or Dynomax...

Looks like I'm going Spintech & I was so sure about the UPR x-pipe. But I kept on seeing vids & reviews about how it's more of higher pitch than the H-pipe. I'm going o/r that much I know now. But running with spintech what would give it a deeper tone ? The x or h pipe

Spintechs with that pipe might rasp a little. A dynomax ultra or magnaflow would not.

I have the original 40s welded in mufflers, I like the tone, they sound good but pretty quiet with stock mid pipe .

Get the H pipe if you want it lower with not as much rasp. An off road H sounds awesome with the mufflers you already have unlese their rotting or something. Classic mustang sound with that set up but drone.
