Found 2 cheap Teksids locally!

Debating on which one to go with.

One is a 96 Cobra with unknown mileage, not running, $600. Complete from pan to Cobra Intake/TB. I know I could make all my money back and wind up with a Teksid and forged crank for free.

One is a late 90s Mark VIII that ran but had a valve spring problem. Don't really care about them running TBTH. $300 for that one, could probably make most of that back selling parts off it and wind up with the bare block free or close to it.

The Cobra sounds better but the Mark VIII block is less work, less up front cost, less having to sell **** to ppl and I don't need a forged crank. Cast is lighter and more than strong enough for a 600-700whp car at 7k RPM. I have yet to actually see a verified.

Yes I know I need to get my damn car running and I have a motor to swap... but this is very local and kind of too good a deal to pass on.

I think that there is more value in the Cobra engine... Assuming that all of the parts are still serviceable.
Either one is a good deal.

I actually think people would be more inclined to purchase parts off the Cobra engine simply because they came off a Cobra engine rather than the 4V Mark VIII almost no one knows about.

Also did not know that the pre 99 cobra 4v's had the forged crank, had to look that one up. Not that it's a big deal, the crank is the last thing that needed forging in this era's 4v.

Wish Ford wouldn't have ***** footed about and just thrown Manley H beams in all the 4v's.

Well I am kicking it around like I said. I don't care so much about a forged crank really. The cast is lighter, revs faster and is plenty strong and I have one already anyway.

But I know I could make all my money back on the Cobra motor parting it out especially if I sold the crank too. I'm honestly wondering what he would sell both for. He is moving and needs them gone.

I'd get it , they usually sell for 200-300 here for the block.

I wouldn't worry too much on a factory forged crank .. the regal steel cranks are just fine .. I've never heard of a steel / cast crank going out .. it's usually the rods and pistons.

He said he is about to pull the ads because of tire kickers and people trying to lowball because the motors are not good runners. I bet I could get them both for cheap and make a few hundred and keep both blocks and the one crank.

And also now I have my father saying if I get them I should sell my pullout PI and rebuild so I'm not on the ragged edge... Thinking of it.

Lol I wish.

But honestly, if I sold my good PI motor for $500-$600, that would pay for ARP hardware, boss rods and some of the machine work. If I got both motors for cheap that'd probably fund the rest of the machine work and pistons once I sold everything. Teksids go for $300-$350 each, forged cranks for $200, Cobra intake cams $175, Cobra intake $250, B heads $100 per set. I could damn near double my money if I can get the guy to $700 for both engines and keep whatever block is better and then run it with the cast crank out of my original motor.

TBTH... this is starting to turn into a "just get it running" to a "do it right the first time" project.

I'm going to go with $700. If I can get both that's fine. If not... I will throw him $500 for the Cobra motor and if he doesn't take I'll offer $200 for the Mark and if then walk off if not. Dude really wants them gone tho, I think I can get him to take $650 or $700 for both. Parting out value is $1200-$1300 not including one of the blocks.

They weigh 85lbs bare. I still have to kick it around. I have a bad feeling if I start an actual "build" now I'm not going to see it on the road till fall at best. Not cool...

I have no clue yet. Parting out would bring double what I paid. At least... And I'd keep the blocks.

But the Cobra motor is complete. And I mean complete. Rails, injectors, front cover, alternator, 62mm BBK throttle body, frpp headers... Everything. If I can dig up a 4v bracket for the Novi I would have a ton of parts to work with...

Here's the kicker, the "Cobra" motor is a Mark bottom end. I still got a screaming good deal and was not going to worry about it for $500 for both motors. Only thing I am worried about is the intake cams will be Mark cams but even still I have over $1k worth of parts and still have to sell my PI motor.

edit: Thank god for cherry pickers... also my garage is a goddamn mess. I'm now one of "those guys" who has a huge pile of parts and a car that doesn't run haha.

Yeah I have 2 sets of cams, 2 sets of heads, the Cobra intake manifold, FRPP headers (I think they are OOP for B heads) etc... etc...

Kinda bummed the crank is not forged but I've seen them stand up to ridiculous abuse. And they are noticeably lighter.

With the 4V I basically do not have to ever worry about spending $2500+ on heads and cams or $1000 on a prepped MHS intake with port matching or anything. I'll sell all my 2V stuff and parts from the 4V I am not going to use and take that money to get the rods and pistons and a set of the B heads refreshed and any misc stuff. I'm sure I'll have more out of pocket costs but I feel a lot better about this TBTH. B heads and cams are basically free and make stupid good power stock with a supercharger. I will have gotten FREE heads/cams/intake once I part some of this stuff I got today.

Right now researching the brackets this guy has supposedly for a 4V (looks like they are legit) for my Novi and then getting together a parts list of all that is needed to convert. Its not a super lot.

Going to be kicking it up to what the stock trans can be reasonably be expected to hold. Looking for a good 500 or so rwhp and then I'll decide if I want to do a 26 spline 3650 or go auto and push it higher. Nice 7200 RPM redline tho.
