What sort of advice are you looking for? I'd say take the car to a drag strip a couple times to get a feel for if you wanna go that route.

Well if its a dedicated track car get a gutted shell and build off it. Full cage, lightweight everything, turbo build with a stalled auto and a tub or mini tub out back. Do you have a tow vehicle to get it to and from the track or will it need to be street legal to get to and from?

All really depends how much you want to spend.

Driving to and from the track is one of the most fun parts. Just don't be one of those guys who can't turn off "track mode" when they leave. Seen more than a few ppl get yanked off the road by cops camping out lol.

I wouldn't go as far as gutting the car, I would be driving it to the track because that is the best part lol. I want to be able to get into the 12's or 11's. You know your average looking car on the street but a little bit of a killer on the street.

What do you have right now? Year and transmission?

12s are not exactly fast or hard to hit on a PI car. 11s is starting to get moving.

I have an 04 with a 5speed. My goal is to push 10 eventually I just think 12's & 11's are faster than your average car on the street

Faster than your average street driver yes, fast at the 1/4 track not even close.

You'll need a power adder, a built bottom end, ported heads, aftermarket cams, transmission upgrades, chassis/suspension mods, a good set of tires and a driver mod. Look at auto swapping it if you are serious about the 1/4 mile. If its a weekend warrior/fun street car then its personal preference.

Yes.. Takes quite a bit of time and money.. With slicks, 4.10 gears, built moser rearend with a full spool, stage 3 clutch, upgraded 26 spline input shaft, stock motor, full exhaust, Ortiz tuned, short throw shifter, 125 wet shot, Lakewood drag struts and shocks, eibach launch springs, all upr control arms in rear.. 28x11.50-15 dot Hoosier slicks up front. "Daily drivin" even tho I only put about 10 miles on it a week. 7.6 @ 90 in 1/8
