I have a tune in it now but it needs to be fine tuned. Next step will be data logging and getting it just right.

Lucky it didn't destroy a piston when we were bumping the motor with the starter when the timing jumped.

Glad you got it back together and running Phatspeed.

In the future, it is a good idea to remove all of the carbon from the tops of the pistons, and the cylinder head chambers, any time that you have the heads removed from the engine. Depending on the severity of the build-up, it can make a noticeable difference in the way that the engine runs.

I would of cleaned it better but I was kinda pressed for time and money. I'll just drive it hard and burn out that carbon. Lol

Run a couple tanks of premium and seafoam. It's worked for me. My car gets a bottle of it every other tank or so.

Still trying to figure out why my cruise control isn't working. I checked the switched and such. Everything seems to be hooked up. Idk what would cause it not to work now.

Did some data logging today. I did a idle and step data log. I'll have to see if I can fine tune it a little more.

Took the Mustang out for a cruise after work. The car sure does scream now. Engine pulls much harder now. Definitely feels like a bolted in some more power. Looking forward to see what kinda power numbers I can throw down next month.

I was looking at mine and it should clear. I should be able to lift it up and rotate it inward and off. I've read that this is the easiest way to go about it.

Oh I'm sure there is. I just did what I had to do. LOL.

Now the car is throwing a P0171 code "Bank 2 too lean" I don't know what could be causing it. Car doesn't run any different. Just trips the code, and the CEL... I clear it with the programmer, and it comes back the next day it seems.

I also averaged my first tank of gas with the new cams... 18MPG... Yeah baby!

CMS stage 2 NA cams finally here!

Who is doing your tuning?
18 is what I'm getting now without my cams. So 18mpg is good to hear with them. Not that I care how many MPG my muscle car gets. Lol

I have a SCT X4 tuner for American Muscle. I ran a Bama race tune with the stock cams, and the car seemed pretty peppy. I submitted the new cam info so they could write a new Race tune since I got the "free tunes for life".

If I don't like how it performs, I'll have LaSota Racing write me a tune. Buddy has used them for some tuning, and says they are really good. Don seems to know Ford 2V pretty good.

When I first got my tuner, bama was in a bad tune phase. I'm not sure if they have improved any since then because I tune through MPT. I know MPT tunes for cams, Keeney has a tune through them as well for his cams. I will most likely use them for my base tune and final tune until I can save up 400 for a legit dyno tune at my local dyno that tunes some of the fastest mustangs in Florida. I think you need to have your tune updated ASAP. I wouldn't drive mine with a lean condition.

It doesn't make any sense why only one bank would be running lean. That's the bank we replaced the valves on, and had completely apart. I double checked all the lines, and don't see any leaks. Fuel injector O-rings were replaced, and I've ran some Royal Purple super concentrated injector cleaner though the last gas tank. Wish it would give me more info on the code. Lean conditions can be cause by a number of different things...

That is strange that it's on the head you worked on. Could it be at all possible that the electrical connector to the injector is frayed or somehow disconnected or came undone?

You would think that would cause a major misfire, and poor engine performance. I think it might be MAF, or vacuum line related.

Wouldn't MAF cause both banks to run lean? You can rule out vacuum or leak related with the good old carb cleaner spray test. Then you can always clean the MAF.

You would think so... I'll have to check it out when I get out to the car. I'm currently using a coffee shop's wifi to download a video.

I can find anything that not hooked up or out of place. No vacuum leaks. I shoved the race tune in it to see if I get the same P0171 code to come on. I just hate having to press the override button for traction control. Hopefully the new tune will be here Monday.

I would much rather run rich then too lean, I'm gonna run on the MPT tune for a bit then dyno tune after I've got a wideband!

All those mods and you still don't have a wideband!?!?!? You're violating scotties rule number 8 if you have a tune you run a wideband!
Lol. I'm extremely happy with scotties recommendation on the APSX D2 wideband. It was cheaper than most and literally plug and play once you ran the wires. It comes pre calibrated and comes right on.

I got the tune sent in an email yesterday. Installed it in a hurry and forgot to chain the Rev limiter. Did a power pull on the hwy and she cut out at 5900rpm. Bumped it up to 6550rpm. Also found the sweet spot for idle with the big cams. 860rpm is the magic number. They sound so *****ing.

That's so good to hear. Glad you found a sweet spot on the idle. I'll probably set mine there as well. Got a video of the new idle and tune?
