Snap-on digital torque wrench? That doesn't quite look like the ones we have here at work.

Let it warm up at a 2000 rpm for 10 minutes. Tick slowly went away. Then quit. Yay!

Took it out for a test drive didn't even make it 3 miles and the tick came back. Got out on the hwy. Gave it some gas. Car felt like it stumbling once it hit 4000rpm. Then the tick came back. Now it sounds like it moved from the rear of the driver side head to the front of the head. Varies with rpm. Idk wtf is going on... Won't be able to work on it til next week now. Ugh! Fml

Sorry to hear that man.

Does the tick speed up with RPM or does it remain one speed?

That freaking sucks man! I'm sorry to hear that!! At this point with the timing set replaced the only place to go now is lash adjusters worn out or followers.

Mine come in at 2 inches long. Or less than a hair shorter.
I don't have my digital calipers here so I used a measuring tape. But it's very very close to 2 inches.

Here is the plan off attack tonight. Drop oil and filter on it. Fill with fresh oil and a little bit of Lucas oil stabilizer to see if it changes the tick at all. If it doesn't then valve covers will come off and I'll check lifters.

More aggressive cams plus valve springs would cause more load bearing stress on the lifter. Makes sense...

I have a light tapping sometimes until it's warm. I also have chain slap it sounds like on startup. But goes away immediately. Less than a second after it has been cranked over. Another reason why I am replacing everything. I opted to replace the followers with the GT followers because of an article I saw that said reusing followers on an new cam is a good way to hurt the cam lobe.

Maybe a sea foam treatment of the oil before the next oil change would help the lash adjusters out. Maybe time for a COP rebuild? It really sucks everything keeps popping up. I hope you get it sorted out.

I did sea foam it. Even with the thicker oil lifter tick under hard loads...

Well you have new lash adjusters. Just have to get them in and see if it fixes it. You're making me doubt putting mine in if you're having all this trouble.
