I ordered them in. Didn't buy them yet. I ended up doing a driver side caliper in duluth at a car meet of all places. #becauseroadkill

Just got back from that car meet in duluth MN. Drove about 200 miles round trip. Car ran like **** the whole time. Has a pretty good miss now that seem to be the worse from 1500-2500rpm. Once you pull higher rpm it seems to go away. Had the exhaust shop who installed my exhaust tips today try and tighten up my exhaust pipe to my passenger side manifold. They didn't do a good job and you can still hear the leak. I don't have any codes for any misfires. Still getting a P0171 code for bank 1 lean. I have to return the core for the driver side caliper I replaced tonight to my work in the morning. I'll grab some fresh plugs and see if that helps clear up the misfire.

If I knew I was going to have this many issues with this whole cam install I would of probably just kept my factory ones and just upgraded my fuel system for the boost that will be coming this winter. But at this rate I might end up just building a second motor and drop it in next spring.

I love the sound of a good set of cams. I just wish a cam swap on the late model engines as it was on early push rod and carborated models. No computers, no programmers, no real problems.

Maybe I am getting old?

Think it was the one spark plug that was dropped out at the shop. I inspected all of them before installing them the last time. But this one must of broke after a hard pull with the motor.

Hmmm.
I wonder if that could have been caused by the lean condition on the #1 bank. That sort of spark plug damage is commonly associated with detonation.

Unless you installed that spark plug with the gap closed, like it is, the damage occurred inside of the engine.
Soccerluvr's engine does the same thing. Only his does it to two cylinders. So far, it's a mystery as to why, but it does it on full throttle pulls. I suspect that something is causing a lean condition, and detonation is pounding the spark plugs, causing the gap to close.

The inside part of the spark plug broke. If you flip it it looks normal with the proper gap.

Ah so the ceramic is broke and acted as a sleeve against the electrode. Well put some new plugs in and see where that gets you. As far as your lean condition, you really need to datalog and send the file off to be picked apart.

Nope.... Back at the shop again. Did a parade today. Motor didn't over heat. But a quart of oil that should be in the motor just magically disappeared. Motor started ticking again. Add a quart. Limped it back to the shop about 13 miles. Motor ran just fine. No more tick...

No oil leak. No signs of burning it.

I'm at a loss again...

I have had that happen with some 5-40 oil. I know for sure that I put the correct amount in. Checked it when I filled it. Checked it when I got home. The next day after sitting it was About a quart low. Added a quart. Drove it about 40 miles and it was low again. All in all I added about 4 quarts to a 6 quart system. When I changed the oil later that day after getting it home only 5 quarts drained out. Changed it to what I normally use and oil level hasn't moved since. And multiple oil changes after that.

I bought lifters. Eric thinks it might be a oil pressure issue. I got a pump on order just in case. Going to put a Guage on it tomorrow.

Started the car to move it into the bay. Motor sounds really pissed off. Ticking and banging. Going to check oil pressure with a regular Guage. Hope my oil pump isn't ****ed.

It's got good oil pressure then. Where is the angryness coming from? The head or front cover? I don't think it would hurt to do the lash adjusters right away.

Hit the inertia switch in the trunk and don't let it fire right up. Turn it over to build oil pressure to prime the new lash adjusters.

Soaked the new lifters in oil for about an hour. Installed them and got everything back together.

Turned key over and built up oil pressure. Fired up motor and let get to operating temp. No more ticking. Hopefully it's fixed now.

Drove the car home tonight. Other than the exhaust leak that I'm aware of (and also probably the reason for the lean bank 1 code) car ran good! No valve train ticking. Car show in a week! So excited!

Now the motor won't pull hard. 5000rpm and it starts missing and the damn tick starts. Idk if the motor is hurt or if that's my exhaust gasket I hear making noise. At idle it doesn't tick or make any noise. Hard to pin point anything with that exhaust leak.

It may be pulling timing and spark because of the lean condition.

It's been lean for nearly 1200mi... I've cleaned the mass air. Triple checked hoses. Can't find a leak other than the exhaust. The pipe is tight. Think the gasket is junk.

Car sitting you can Rev it to 6000. Then the motor idles down and it has that tick... But only for about 10 seconds. Then goes away. I'm about ready to pull these cams out and throw them in the trash... So frustrated.

I'm not sure that is your problem. Get the exhaust snugged up. Then get a legit tune to correct your lean condition.
