need help with exhaust

Hey everyone, right now my Mustang GT has the stock exhaust on it but I want to get something that's louder and sounds more aggressive. A local exhaust shop told me they could just start out by swapping the mufflers for Flowmasters, do you guys think just a performance muffle would be loud? Or would I need to get an entire exhaust kit like an x pipe or something?

I did exactly that. Flowmaster 40's SS. It sounds great. I had quotes on cat back systems and x-pipes and or h-pipes. I have other things I want to spend my time and money on right now, so just swapping out mufflers was a good move that gives me the sound without the heavy price.

I think that's what I'm thinking I'm going to do. And I could always just get the x pipe or h pipe after the mufflers if it's not what I wanted.

Yes I have the originals 40s welded in, it sounds alot better a little louder but its not gonna be too loud unless you swap the mid pipe. Mine is actually quiet cause it looks like I have 6 cats and I get no drone on highways.

I would start with FlowMaster Original 40 mufflers. It'll have a good rumble. If you want to go louder, replace the tips with either 3.5" or 4"X18" tips.

Flowmasters original 40s or super 44s. Or even 10s if you want very loud.

I agree, get them welded in and see how you like it. My 03 has 40s welded in from the PO and it sounds good, its somewhat loud as they get "broke" in a little, they have like 700 miles on them is all, lol but are 5 yrs old. But I do crave it to be louder thats why I want an off road H pipe and it will sound perfect to me. But everyone has different opinions. You will be happy with the change in sound the 40s will bring but like you said down the road if you want it louder youre not out a thing, just get a mid pipe.

I got an off-road H pipe and Flowmaster Super 10 series mufflers installed. It's loud.

I used to hate flowmasters I've had on other vehicles simple because of the drone. But this 03 I picked up has them (not sure if they are 44's or super 40's, or what), but with the factory H pipe, they sound absolutely phenomenal. There is some drone around 2200 RPM, but it is a very good drone.

Cant beat a chambered muffler on these 2v cars. Especially with an offroad midpipe.

If you wanted to find out there a little # scripted on the back the mufflers by where the outlet comes out. I didn t know what mines were either till I got under the car lol.
