Idling issues

So yesterday I go to drive my car and once I turn it on I hear a loud humming noise coming from the cai and it'll shoot up to 2k in rpms then drop to 500 and turn off I'd have to tap the gas but every time I tap the gas it'll just go up to 2k and I will hear the humming noise again, anyone know what might cause this?

Your IAC valve. It needs to be replaced, only get the motorcraft one, store brand ones are terrible, I tried a couple and they didnt work

It sure does sound like it anyway, you usually get that humming noise from them

You can also look for a Hitachi brand IAC as they make the original parts for Ford

So I switched out my iac valve with another I had around and the humming and crazy idling went away but now it's dying at idle probably 1/3 times

I suppose that the IAC that you had *laying around* could be defective as well...
Did you do the idle relearn procedure, by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15-20 minutes?

Yes I did. And when I tried to start it 2 times it tried to start up but sounded like it was choking then the 3rd time it fired up. Fuel issue?

Possibly. You could do a fuel pressure test to find out.

I suspect that it is a problem with your IAC though. I would try a new OEM Motorcraft IAC and see if that solves the idle problem.

Just for an experiment you could clean the AIC. That might surprise you.
