Steeda Underdrive Pullies

Would they be worth getting for a good deal? I plan to stay N/A but will keep stock pullies. I found some new, owner went boost and selling for $90 bucks.

The pullys will free up a few extra horsepower and at $90 it is a good deal if you can install them yourself! If not then I am not sure how much someone will charge to install them so I guess that is the big question...you should look to free up approx. 10-20hp at the crank!

I know they'll cause alternator charging problems half the time. They seem like a pointless upgrade for the potential headaches they can cause

Attaching any extras to an engine with an old alternator is never a good idea...and Jeno I seriously doubt that someone bought underdrive pullys only then paid for a dyno! This is why I specified the extra power at the crank vs RWHP! You could contact Steeda and ask but you will get the corporate answer plus all equal engines not being equal (Age, abuse, maint., etc.)

That is true Jeno but not at $90 or less which seems to be the dollar amount that XSlash is working with at the moment...also it isn't a bad place to start!

Minimal power gain if any. They can dress up the interior a little but I would leave the stock alternator pulley on if you get them. I wouldn't.

I was tossing this idea around as well. Guy selling a set on CL here for $80. All I hear is your accessories (alternator, AC compressor, etc) don't work as good. Personally I'd rather have a perfectly functioning air conditioner than the few extra ponies possibly gained from changing the pulleys.

Thats true it might just end up being a problem with something that is running good for minimum hp

Underdrive pulleys are like msd coils or other ignition components. They used to be a requirement for making an older car faster. People use em on classic hot rods and older muscle cars. Today, it barely makes a difference. Unless you are squeezing every little bit you can out of a race car.
