2004 GT stock tire?

Mine has Eagle gts 245/45ZR17 from the PO and the max psi on the side wall is 51. That's way too much and harsh. The door sticker lists 30 psi for the stock 245/17, whatever it was.

Is 30 psi too low for my Eagle gts?

Goodyear discontinued this tire and I can't get any info from them.

Max psi is maximum before danger of rupturing... not what you should be ever running a tire at. Go with the door sticker when in doubt, its not going to ever be off enough to matter. I always run street tires at 35 myself.

Down to 35 and a much better ride. Being 40 you'd think I would have known that.

Yup, 35 here too. I loved the discontinued eagle GTs, fat looking tire with that cool rim protector, they didn't make a decent replacement

Wait you had them at 51??? Wow... Well hopefully they aren't bald as hell in the middle of the tread.

Not quite; 45psi for 20 miles. I've only had it for 3 days.

The couple I bought it from had 28psi in all four and it felt a bit squishy. I'm at 35psi now and it's fine. I never knew about the door sticker having tire pressure recommendations until doing a search here.

Off topic, I drive an 07 Focus SES hatch back with 205/50 16" and it handles like a slot car compared to the Mustang. The Mustang is more comfortable on rough blacktop and is heavier and has a little more body roll. Nothing I can't get used to. I know I can change springs and lower it but would rather not go that far. The stance looks fine the way it is.

I've decided on the Steeda sub frame kit and will go from there.
