Is it worth it?

As some of you may know, I'm in the market for a new transmission. Upon crunching all the numbers, I figured Proforce Performance's HD plus trans was the best option. But living in Canada, this option, along with all others is not cheap. After trans, shipping, boarder fees I'll be looking at about $1750, and that's before removal an instillation. I've already spent 1300 on my last rebuild. At what point do I say enough is enough?... All I want is my car to work.

Well you won't go wrong getting a trans from Stan... I dunno you get what you pay for. Are you close to the border of the USA at all? You could have it shipped to a UPS drop off right over on our side and drive across and pick it up.

Yeah I am, I plan on picking up from the states. All of those cost figures account for that. Would be outrageously pricy shipping to canada. That's what I have heard, I guess I'm just a little weary as of anything goes wrong id prolly have to ship it back which would cost a ton.

Yeah you would have to ship it back... How far are you from Minnesota? I got my 3650 from a shop there back before they started doing core charges. It was $1060 to my door lol. Even with core only add $120 USD or so to that price once you get your core charge back (shipping the core). If you are near them then scratch the shipping costs.

I'm pretty far, about 5 hours one way. I'm basically right on the North Dakota- Manitoba border. Trans cost 1350 but 400 back if I return my core, but it doesn't seem like I'll be recovering much money so I don't think so. Will start doing research about removing my trans, is that a hard thing to do without a lift? How high will I need the car?

An integrated bell trans without a lift... **** man... I dunno I've done a ton of transmissions and I would not want to do a t45/3650 on my back, no way in hell.

It'll need to be at least 21" IIRC and you better be DAMN sure its solid as a rock on the jackstands because you will be fighting with stuff under there.

T-5 on the other hand is easy except getting the damn pilot bearing out.
