Need Correct Speedometer Gear; Which One??

I recently bought back my 97 Mustang GT, and the guy who had it before me swap the rear from the 3.08s from factory to 3.73s, but never bought the speedo gear, hence my speedometer reading being way off.

What gear do I need? I've heard 21-tooth, 23-tooth, 25-tooth, etc., but can't get a definite answer. It's an automatic transmission car (4R70W). Any help is appreciated!

Get a tune for the gears.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

tune or speedcal. there is no correct gear for 3.73s. the white 23 tooth is not a ford gear.

In my 96 I used the 25 tooth and its still off by 5-7 mph dependent on how fast youre going. Also a tune wont work for 99 down cars as far as Im aware. I downloaded a speedometer app and just use that or keep up with traffic. Doesnt bother me though. If its a must for you get the speedcal like Scotty said

I think I'll go with the SpeedCal. I'd rather have that over nothing.

Tune will work for anything 94-up. If you get a speedcal get the Dallas one. Even lets you put a 99-up OSS trans in a vss car if you want.
