The Project Continues

Hey everybody the v6 to v8 conversion went great. But now that I've got the bug for modding I would like to do heads cams and intake.... Possibly internals. I would like any bodies opinion on which heads and cams to go with for the 2003 4.6 motor. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated !!

Congrats on the swap.

For future reference I would perform major modifications to an engine before it is installed. It is a lot easier to work using an engine stand than between the fenders.

What sort of power are you looking for out of the head? Heads and cams will get you to the low 300whp mark and will cost a good chunk of money to reach that. However, if you're set on heads and cams, I would go with some TrickFlow heads and a set of Cushman cams.

Thanks Mile high JDF. I was thinking trick flow heads with thumper cams and trick flow intake. I was wondering though if I'm going that far should I do forged internals as well? I don't want to build up the top end and blow out the bottom end.

Also I was thinking around 330 from what I've heard at the wheel.

Who makes the Thumper cams? The bottom end will hold up just fine at 330whp, but honestly for the money I would supercharge it.

Yep. Probably, a supercharger would be the way to go, in this case.

Now, if there was just someone on here who has a complete, pre-owned, ready to bolt on, supercharger/intake manifold package for sale, that Crusader could purchase, he would be all set!

Now I don't know who you could possibly be talking about..

I've got a couple people "interested" in my blower but nobody has given me cash yet for it.

I have the hi tech stage 2 cams in my 01, love them. When I was still n/a I made close to 300 whp with the rest of the motor being stock, and having long tubes and full exhaust. Now I have the same setup plus an intercooled procharger, and make 430 to the wheels. If you want power, save for boost, mod motors love it.
