So, it's been a few weeks since i last driven my 02. I drove it on my birthday and took it to work (62 mile drive) and the car drove fine to work. A couple of my friends took me out to eat, the problem started. I drove no more than 15 miles to the spot. It drove fine all the way until i turned on the ac for awhile, then turned it off because there were too many cops (i have limo tint) and drove normally. Once i hit the first stop light, the car shut off which was weird. I drove it some more and it did the same thing. We got the spot and stood there for a couple hours. I thought if i let it cool down some, it will be fine. Once i got back into the car, it drove fine. I got on the freeway, and it shut back off! Fortunately there was a lot of traffic (LA) and the whole way it kept doing that. I noticed it kept doing it once i stopped.
After that day, i did not drive the car anymore until about an hour ago. I turned it on, it started fine. I revved up to about 2.5k and it shut off immediately. I then decided to clean out the MAF and throttle body. I turned it back on and revved it again and it didn't shut off. I thought i had fixed the problem. I drove the car around the small street and it drove fine. I took it to the big street and on the first stop, it shut off again! Once i got it to start back up i drove it quickly back home and never turned off after that. What can be the issue?
I also noticed that there is a tick that just started on the left side. Could it be an exhaust leak? I have UPR Xpipe on it. I did replace the gasket once i first installed it.
Any help, i would greatly appreciate it. I want to have it ready for this weekend. We are having a meet and i have been missing out for quite some time now.
You need to remove the passenger side inner fender to access the CCRM.
Before you do that, connect a fuel pressure test gauge to the Schrader valve and monitor the fuel pressure while the engine is going through it's stalling process. If the fuel pressure does not drop when the engine stalls, the problem is not related to the fuel pump shutting off.
I have a CEL now all of a sudden, but my obd is not showing anything?
He has a rod knock right now. He's saving up money to build the motor and go twin. In the mean time, he's letting me use whatever i need to find out what's wrong with my car.
Trust me, if it were a parts car, i would have stripped his car lol.
That is the "further diagnosis" that I was hoping for. If you can determine what is triggering the CEL, it will help greatly with the diagnosis of your problem.
So i just finished connecting the fuel pressure gauge onto the car. My readings were a 30psi. Does that sound right? After the car shut off, it stayed reading 30. What do you make of this? ?
Something is triggering the CEL. It is strange, but possibly the scanner you are using is not reading the code. If you can, try using a different scanner.
I would recommend having an auto parts store read the codes, but they aren't allowed to do that in California.

Well it stays on a lot longer. Normally it would stay on for about 5 minutes and it would could off. Now it stays on from cold to warm and as soon as i give it a rev or turn on and off. It cuts off. What can be other things i van look into? I feel like i'm making progress. If not, i'll just throw in the towel and take it to the mechanic.
As I said, it would be helpful to know what is triggering the CEL.
The only other thing that I can think of, off hand, is there may be a problem with the IAC. I don't think that the one from your brother's car will work though, because GT's and Bullitts have different IAC's.
That's the crazy part, no CEL. I can't take it anywhere or it'll die on me. I'm going to just order the IAC. I've been reading up on the symptoms of a faulty IAC. Some symptoms describe what my car is currently making. It's never been replaced so it wouldn't be a waste of money regardless.
I am proud to report that i just installed the new iac. I left the car running for about 15 min (cold-normal running temp) and gave it a few revs 2-4.5k and it did not shut off. I haven't road tested it yet, my brothers fox is blocking the garage and he's not home, but i'll drive it tonight.
