Shimming Vortech V2 supercharger

So my vortech has been chewing up belts. As it turns out, it appears the original owner never shimmed it correctly. According to the vortech manual 2 of the 3 mounting points use the AC line silencer bracket. Problem is, can't find such a bracket under the hood. Does anyone know the thickness of this bracket so I can match it with a washer the same thickness?

Am I just not seeing it in the engine bay??Click image for larger version

What year is your mustang? Vortechs instructions apply to many different years... That bracket is on 96-99 models.

I looked at your profile and you list a 2003. Go back and look at the instructions it's easy to get confused I know I did.

I would look at your belt tensioner make sure it's not bent and make sure you have the proper belt size. Any slop in the belt will cause it to jump around on the power steering pump pulley. And then your belt looks like this Click image for larger version

Shimming Vortech V2 supercharger

Thanks for the clarification. Are you saying there is no shim that goes between the two left bolts? If that's true I'll go out and get a new pulley tensioner and see if that works.

It's been a year since I installed mine but I do remember that part. I only remember following the instructions. I've beat on mine for the last year and it finally shredded 2 grooves off. I let off hard at around 6 grand and it jumped a groove on my power steering pulley. Im going to change the belt today. If I can I'll see if I can get a good picture of my bracket. But I went intercooled so it's hard to get in there and see the bottom of the bracket.

Thanks! If you have a V2, your going to have to remove the supercharger to get a new belt on.... Sorry to break the news. If you don't mind snapping some photos of the shins, it'd be much appreciated!

Well just put the belt on and there is no shims. My pulleys all line up when I put a straight edge on them. It's not really to bad to replace the belt. I just removed the bracket bolts and it slid right on. I will say my old belt stretched out atleast 2" compared to the new one. It might be hit or miss on needing shims just check your pulleys with a straight edge and go from there.
