Cobra R Hood

Does anyone know where I can get a Cobra R hood? I would like to be able to borrow one for a few days, but for the right price I may have an investor willing to purchase the hood.

The hood will only be used as a mold. I have designed a carbon fiber replica with lexan sections that are reminscent of the see through hoods found on exotics.

Once I get the initial mold I will not need the hood anymore. I will have a unique hood that I hope to see go into production.

If I do not find a hood I will use a standard Mustang hood and build the bulges using foam and resin. This may be the ideal situation. With foam I will be able to build a larger bulge on a small cowl.

Sorry guys, I can't share the sketches yet. As soon as I have the paperwork that provides a trademark is complete I can share the designs. At the moment I am excited to see the project come together.

I am certain there will be a significant discount.

When my dad had his shop I built a lot of one off carbon and fiberglass parts. The mold is the hardest part.

When I was a part of the Sport Truck industry, and while with NOPI, I had the opportunity to design and build several hoods, a few bumper covers, and endless roll pans.

I also plan on designing a two piece rear bumper for the new edge with a diffuser. I just need to find a way to get around the fuel tank that is in the way.

With studio work slow, and a job hunt that is being difficult, I have been spending my time with my sketch pad and autocad.

I am looking forward to sharing my designs. I just have to protect them before they are presented to the public.

I know I am asking for a lot. I may be asking for the impossible, but I am bumping the thread. Someone in the Mustang world might be interested in helping me get started with this custom hood recreation.

The hood will not be harmed in any way. It will not even be scratched. The mold building process is harmless, and I am a perfectionist.

Hey Revvv, I have only see this hood done once and I cannot find it anywhere. But these look bad *** on a new edge. I would buy one of these in a heart beat from you.

I will have to break out the sketch pad and put a few designs together.

That particular hood would be likely be a 2 piece outter skin, unless the front scoops ended short.

When I see that hood I see an opportunity to borrow the Pontiac TransAm WS6 Ram Air design. That hood could be made functional if an airbox and intake was designed with it.

I'm not sure how it was made. I saw it on an old YouTube video. I Google searched it for a while and I can't find it again. It was for sure on a new edge. A WS6 hood would be cool as well. Glad to see you putting something together.

I think that Shelby style hood with the WS6 airbox, or similar setup would be pretty cool.

I don't normally like to take design cues and swap them between auto manufacturers. I'm my opinion that begins to look like a desperate attempt at styling.

The Cobra R hood has already been copied ad nauseum.

Here is a completely unique, functional hood design, that is elegantly subtle, yet makes a statement.
I want a 20% royalty for each one sold after they go into production...

I'm scared to ask what that thing is Stray. You can have full ownership of that. Lol

I agree, the Cobra R has been copied a lot. No one has done what I have in mind though. It will add a very unique appearance to an overused item.

Have you ever seen the movie "Corvette Summer"?

Note how one side of the scoop pulls cold air into the engine bay, and the other side vents out the hot air... Pure genius!

It's about a high school kid who builds a Corvette in auto shop class, which is stolen by the mob. He then teams up with his prostitute girlfriend to try to get it back.
It wasn't a very good movie even by 1970's standards.

If you can't find a hood to use as a plug, perhaps you could possibly purchase one, and then return it undamaged for a refund?

If a company was to agree to that arrangement I would consider it. It is possible a company would be willing to loan a hood. There is no way I would take advantage of a person's business and return a product that is not flawed or damaged in any way.

I pride myself on integrity. There are few things in life that we will leave to others when we leave this earth. The one thing we are assured to leave is our legacy. Our children, grandchildren, and other family members are often times judged by the character, or lack thereof that we create.

Could just be me, or the picture, but it looks like it has fitment issues. That my biggest concern when not going with OEM body parts.
