Discontinued/Hard to find parts

I saw something in the news this week about a guy who couldn't find a discontinued HVAC module for his 2009 F-150. Obviously this is a much newer vehicle than our cars so I was wondering what important parts for our cars are discontinued or otherwise hard to find. I haven't really run across much myself but I haven't had to do a lot of major repairs to my car.

I don't think that there are really any parts that you can't find for the New Edge Mustangs. A lot of replacement parts are still available from Ford. And the aftermarket is VERY strong. Also, not many Mustangs are crushed before every usable part is removed for sale on the used market.
However, some of the parts on the special edition Mustangs (Cobra/Mach/Bullitt) can be extremely difficult to find, and are only available on the used market.

The New Edge is the last generation of the "simple" Mustangs. They aren't anywhere near as as technologically "advanced" as the later cars. A damned HVAC module sure as hell won't take one off the road... It doesn't have one!

...and now you know why I looked for a New Edge.

This is also why I love my 03 Ram. Simple, and lots of parts.

Now, if I,could just scrape the $$$ together for an engine.

With the exception of early 4.6 heads and manifolds I "think" most of the mechanical parts exchange between the early SN95 and the New Edge.

From my understanding the PI heads and manifolds are a direct bolt on swap.

The interiors are the same on both cars.
Suspension is the same.

For the most part only the outter skin is different.

I will disagree from my area perspective. My local pull a part is full of 94-98 Mustangs. I can find almost anything I need that will fit my 03.

Now I'm jealous. The salvage yards in my area must send all Mustangs to you.

depends on your definition of discontinued or hard to find. I was told by the dealer that the radiator for the manual transmission models was discontinued. but there is still an aftermarket for it, whether its a pos made in china one from a parts store, vs a mishimoto.

as for the interior, there are some minor differences between 94 to 98 and the 99 to 04. the interior for the tan ones are definitely different. older models are "saddle" colored. 99 to 04 is "Parchment" colored. and hard to find. :/

oem iac valves and ac compressors i think might be on the way out as far as oem is concerned. worldpac sells both.

You can go to here to AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake and find out what parts have been discontinued your car. You can search by VIN number, which is nice. I have gotten a few parts from them that my local dealership said was "not available".
