DenseCharger Problem, Help!

A friend sold his 2001 Cobra and gave me his Densecharger for my '99 Cobra, I installed it with the extra elbow that puts the K&N filter in the "DOWN" position now it stalls whether warm or cold when I'm at a stop light? Is this common? Should I just attach the K&N to the elbow piece before the Air Meter so the filter is positoned normally?
Is there a HP and performance difference? If the down angle is better is there a way to smooth the idle? Thank You CJ

Re: DenseCharger Problem, Help!

The more bends you have before the MAF the worse it is. If the MAF is in the fender with your filter, then you may have it clocked wrong. It wants to be in a particular orientation to work right. I forget how it needs to be in the fender well off the top of my head, but I think the plug needs to be closest to the fender.

It could also be that you have a leak somewhere...or that your MAF is oiled up from the K&N filter if you cleaned and oiled it before you installed the kit.

My recommendation is to put the stock intake back on as the densencharger kit is kinda low quality.

It's a cold air kit brand...like K&N, JLT, MAC, etc.

YUP the more bends before the meter does create a problem, my Air Meter is in the stock location NOT in the fender, and I'm sure I have no leaks I even used Hi Temp clear silicone caulking on all the elbow connections and as far as filter oil on the meter? No as well there.
When I mash the throttle the response is NICE so I'm thinking the motor is choking for air at idle cause it has to travel through so much piping?
I'm gonna try removing the elbow for the down angle and attaching the K&N to the piece before the Air Meter to see if that brings my idle back to normal,
Thanks for the input Pure Venom.
