Painting Rear Valence and License Plate Deck Lid

I am going to be home for a few days, so I am looking at trying the plasti dip on my rear valence and license plate deck lid. Is there any tips on how not to get the plasti dip into the holes on the bumper and off the foam absorber inside. Also do I need to remove the logos to paint the deck lid? And how many coats should I do, and should this only take one can? Thanks in advance

Lots of painter's tape and news paper to protect things from over spray.

Personally, I would use vinyl over PlastiDip, but I really hate that stuff. It works great for tool handles (original intention) but is garbage otherwise in my opinion.

The LMR honeycomb deck lid panel looks great. That is the other direction I would go.

I want to get a gloss black look to match the letters and the rocker stripe I will be getting soon. I have no experience with vinyl and don't know anywhere to get it done. Is there any techniques to make it easier. Plus Plasti dip is so cheap.

Don't you want to be working on getting your suspension fixed instead of worrying about plastidip??

I am not at home so I was going to see if I need to order vinyl or buy plasti dip. Suspension is being addressed when I go home for Fall break and my dad and I are putting it on the lift and checking it out. Already buying OEM control arms, ball joints, and tie rod ends.

How far of a drive? From your other thread, doesn't sound like it's safe to drive anywhere.

" was changing fog light assemblies and my jack dropped and my car landed on two jack stands and now my steering is off 45 degrees to the left when driving straight and my tires squeel when braking hard or turning at high speed. What are possible reasons for that."

He drive it to school in that condition from what it sounds like.

I drove to school which is like 70 miles and have driven it some since then and will be another 70 some back. The guy and my dad just said to avoid driving unless necessary and to stay decently slow and not drive in rain

Bent Tie Rods probably. Vinyl is cheap....You can buy a 5' x 5' piece on EBay for about $10.
If you can spray soapy water from a bottle, use a squeegee & a blow dryer Vinyl is a much better way to go. I'd remove the Deck Lid Panel either way (paint or vinyl) as you'll get a much nicer job at the end. It's easy to remove. Watch a video of it on you tube. You can also watch a video on doing vinyl as that's how I learned to do it.

I one time I tried plastidip, I failed lol. I could never get a smooth enough surface to satisfy the look I wanted. I believe I'd entertain the eBay vinyl suggestion.

When you do the rocker stripes use masking tape across the door 1st to give you something to line up your stripes to. Once you get the masking tape lined up on both doors it will make the job easy. I've put them on 3 or 4 of my Mustangs. Takes about 30 minutes per side. Leave the car sit for a good 8 hours to let the stripes adhere good as you don't want the wind blowing an edge lose.

If you want to see what a New Edge Mustang looks like with rocker stripes (& a lot more) click on my "view my pictures" thing under my avatar. There's pics of the 04 Mustang I did. Miss that car....But still happy with my 14 GT. I put the stripes on the 94 also. Also removed Hood, Trunk & Roof Stripes from the 08. If I can do this....pretty much anyone can....LOL.
