Re: rear window defrost not working

Fuse okay? Grid attached to the glass everywhere, but simply no defrosting action at all? Look for a bad switch, relay or timer. For this you’ll need a schematic diagram Start at the fuse and trace the wiring. If the switch is bad, you’ll be able to jumper the switch and get 12 volts beyond there for diagnosis. But you may need to replace the timer—which may be integrated into a larger box of electrical controls buried under the dash.

Your fuse box location is either on the driver's side underneath the dash or behind the battery under the hood. Take the cover off and look, there should be a legend for all the circuits of the car and what they control. If the switch is fine, and the fuse is fine, then it could be at the window where it makes contact, they can break and cause it not to work.

Re: rear window defrost not working

The light come on and it times off, could it still be the switch not gettig power to the window. I just bought the car and it has tint on the door glass but none on the rear window. I probably had it on the rear window and could have been cut when tint was installed?

Re: rear window defrost not working

they might have scrapped off the lines when putting on the tint cause they have to clean it. and when the tint was removed if it was on there for a long time it definately pulled the lines off i saw it get done to a 2004 gmc denali. only two lines worked on mine i had tint and someone removed it. now none work. hopefully that helps.
