Is this all I need to build my rear?

I'm wanting to go 3.73's with 31 spline rear end parts... thus no breakage. I also hear LCA's would be good to upgrade if I'm ever going to be pushing a healthy amount of power. I'm hoping *crosses fingers* to have a 2.1 KB blower on the car by this time next year... but only set at 9 psi (should net a little over 400 rwhp). anyway... here are some links.

Moser 31 Spline Mustang Axles for 8.8in Rear w/ Studs (99-04 GT, Bullitt, & Mach 1) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Eaton 8.8in 31 Spline Limited Slip Differential at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Ford Racing Gears and Tuners at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Maximum Motorsports Rear Lower Control Arms (99-04 GT) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I'm not sure if that 3.73 gear kit is a complete install kit or not

Re: Is this all I need to build my rear?

Id think about other things rather than your rear end if you're going to have 400 rwhp... like, ohhhh... your block?

The rear end is going to hold up fine being a street car. It's when you start putting 11.5" wide slicks on the back that you need to worry about snapping that thing. Assuming you're using this as a street car (since it would have a KB... not really a track blower) Just put the gears in there and be done with it.

400 rwhp is fine for the stock block. It's getting up there, but KB assures me it's fine. I suppose I could do just the gears and if I blow it... replace it with the built ****.

400 is getting pretty close on a 2v block... course you wont be running a bunch of boost, but anything over 8-9lbs I'd start being wary. Save the axle money for things like a tune.

KB has a chip as part of their 2.1 kit. However, what it means is that I can toss the $700 I would've spent on the LSD and axles towards the blower. I found a fellow enthusiast that'll do the blower install for free, so it'll cost $5000 total. (and that's all blower and intercooler complete kit).

I'm planning on putting $2k from my taxes towards it, and the extra $700 puts me over halfway there. The 2.1 kit comes with the 9 psi pulley which is at the limit of the stock block (says KB). My motor has 130k miles on it, but I don't have to drive much now... and IF it does blow, I do live right off the bus line now.

Which will need to be thrown in the garbage shortly after it arrives.

I'm sure it would do a great job getting me to the dyno shop

A friend of mine knows a guy that spent 5 years in a Mustang specialty shop doing dyno's and what-not in Indy. He's now about 2 hours away... and he would love to do the blower for free. He still has his tuning software. I'm not 100% sure if that's where I wanna get it tuned or not

If you need to know good places to have it tuned, I could point you in the right direction down here in KC. It's under 5 hours from Iowa City, and the guys down here definitely know their ****.

I'm gonna worry about paying for the blower first After that, if I don't like the tune... I may hit you up.

You're wasting your money on the rear end unless the car is going to see regular track duty. A stock 8.8 will handle quite a bit of abuse.

yeah, I'm going to hold off on the 31 spline stuff, and just toss the gears and lower control arms in.

I would leave the stock 3.27s in there until you see how it hooks up with 400rwhp~ you dont want to just spin the tires off

really? I'm craving "go fast" stuff... I think gears would help get rid of some of that.
