Questions about pcv valves

So i went to buy a new pcv valve and the guy at the parts store told me id be better off going to get the metal one from the dealership other than the plastic one they had how much truth is there to this?
2000 GT 5 spd ,cai with k&n filter,3.73's,Diablosport predator tune,slp loudmouth cat back,more to come

There is a lot of truth to it because the stock one sucks. I am adding an aluminum one to my PCV system based on some research and results I read on another forum.

Basically, the stock one isn't really good enough to function completely. It can be forced open when it should be shut because it is a pretty cheap part.
