How long is this dinner? Is it just going to be food or are there going to be some events during it?

Re: Tupelo Mustang Cruise - March 13th

Hey guys I was catching up on some forum chatter and saw some questions posted here so I thought I would answer a few of them...

There are no packets sent out with tickets. We will have your name on the registration for the banquet and will give you tickets when you get to the event on Saturday. Just come up to the registration booth to get them.

Also for the evening we plan on opening the doors at 5PM to the museum for everyone that wants to come in for the dinner. We hope to have a cash bar there for everyone who wants it for socializing and checking out the museum. At 6:30PM we are unvieling a restoration of a 69 mustang that was purchased by someone that was in Vietnam. He has owned the car since new and it has been in a barn for the past 20-30 years. This will be the formal presentation of his "new" car to him! Banquet starts at 7PM with guest speakers starting around 8PM.

Also not sure if you are all aware but we have a poker run going on from 1-3PM during the day with 5 stops around Tupelo and cash prizes offered for best and worst hands. Entry for that is $5 per hand and 100% of participation fees is awarded so hopefully there will be some big prize money.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have other questions and I will be happy to answer what I can.

Re: Tupelo Mustang Cruise - March 13th

I would say you would fit in the stock class since you are pretty much still stock...unless you are swapping out your rims for this trip...then you might have to go modified. But I mean you are almost stock still right?

Here are two typical definitions of concourse:

Quote:
CONCOURSE TRAILERED: This type of car is a perfect example of the original vehicle. All parts are to original specs, the vehicle has nice paint, and the interior is sharp looking. This car should also be clean and detailed since it’s trailered.

CONCOURSE DRIVEN: This type of car is a perfect example of what a restored Mustang would look like. Unlike Concourse Trailered, this type of car may have reproduction parts and accessories. However, it should still be clean, free of defects, with a good paint job and good overall workmanship.

Re: Tupelo Mustang Cruise - March 13th

Hey guys I think there is some confusion regarding whether there is a car show or not. There is not a formal car show at this event. This is billed as a show and shine. We have a few trophies we are giving away to clubs and for some selected cars but it is not a formal judging event. We ask for information on your cars attending so we know what types are cars are coming in and to get an idea of the nature of enthusiast you are. For example, I have a new car and like mods but others may have an older car that is a completely stock show car and they trailer where ever they go (concourse).

I would recommend doing the poker run as it will take you past some neat places and break the day up. Plus you may have a chance to win some cash!

Sweet. So they are staying in Jackson too? Also, when are they rolling through baton rouge (if they are)?

Man, that'd be sweet to meet up with them and cruise in as well.

Come on give into peer pressure.. Plus $20 isn't terrible for that type of dinner, I've paid far more.. And you are supporting the local Mississippi Economy. My suggestion get dinner, then after go get drinks.. You can do some PR for the site there as well. All sounds great!!

They will be coming in on I-20 and not from our area. It would have been nice.

Just a little over a week left to Tupelo. Does anyone have their cars ready yet? (I'm sure most do on this site, a better question would be who doesn't?)

Me. I'm having major issues getting my header gasket changed. I have the bad one out but the header bolts are fighting me going back in which is scary with aluminum heads. I just gave up for the night. Ugh.

Got some cleaning done last week, leaving the interior for next week. I think we're bringing the 03 and 04, the 90 needs rear tires and a battery before going that far.

I'm cleaning mine as soon as I wrap up this header gasket issue I'm working on. Then again, rain all week this week here until thursday as well...so, a quick touch up will be in order next friday before we leave.

Don't worry I'm no where close to being ready either. She goes into tomorrow for rear brakes and an oil change. (I would attempt them myself but not before going on a trip) My goal is to detail Monday, or Tuesday then a quick wash before leaving Saturday.
