only reason you have a hot sausage is cause you jerk it soo much. friction=heat.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

Yeah, if I get it tomorrow and they don't call me to go offshore then I will be there in the morning.

If I have to pick it up saturday, then I'll try to make it. I may swing by on my way to Thunder to puck up the exhaust, or after I leave with it.

The exhaust is being done on warranty by Magnaflow, my muffler hanger broke, so the driver's side muffler is dangling and looking horrid.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

idk if i will have time to get anything on the lift, its a shop so no mod partys but i will swap it for a fee or i might can rent you the lift for an hour or so.so far, kyle and mikey have exhaust problems that they need fixed....and id like to point out at this point that they decided to have somebody other than TPS install it. young-uns will learn one day. b ut i may be too busy strapping cars and driving them on the lift, if benjy and wes can handle it, i may be able to get these 3 cars on the lift.

Yeah, they both went to "Billy bob's muffler" shop to get it done instead of getting to done right the first time.

What kind of mustang owner can't install a catback themselves? I think my gf could do it if she had to.

Highland Car Care used to be some exhaust "professionals". They had, I kid you not, 10 3" tips in a row under his back bumper on his suburban

One that requires welding and doesn't have a welder....like Both kyle's and mike's did.

why do people still do that, pretty much every exhaust option on a stang is direct bolt on, even dumps.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

because with the bolts and clamps we found exhaust leaks.... im not a fan of leaks

when you are able to put your hand about 3 feet from the flange, and you feel exhaust burning your skin from a leak, no good sir, no good

A. You have a car that you bought used and it is already welded to ****.
B. You are only replacing the mufflers and your car does not have a modular cat back on it already.
C. You don't want to spend $700 for a cat back when all you need are the mufflers...or when the mufflers you want aren't available as a cat back.
D. You don't have the flow tubes or the over axel pipes in stock at your own house and they don't typically come in bolt on form from the muffler shop, so they end up getting welded in.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

The best clamps I've ever used, and never had a leak are the band style clamps, they're about 3" wide and make a great seal. I hate dealing with having exhaust welded, no muffler shop ever has anyone that can do a decent job.

these clamps were about 2" to 2.5" wide, and seemed decent. but, as rob had warned me before installation, claims aren't the best thing...

That's why you don't go to a muffler shop..as both Mike's and Kyle's exhaust setups will prove. You go to a performance shop that has even half a clue. Muffler shops hire whoever will work for the rates.

However, they were both impatient and just took it to kings or whatever muffler joint and now they have fubared setups. Not sure on kyle's issues now, but I know it was garbage when first put in. Mikes, well, that shop just has a great "Hire the handicapped" policy.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

its not that you cant do it, we paid thousands of dollars for a lift, i have no reason to loan it for free.ill rent it to you, if i loan it yo you for free, everybody will come to tps for thier charity lift usage. no offense but we spend lots of money on our equipment to make our job easier,so we can make money doing installs, and it is dumb to do them for free when thats how we plan to make our living.sparkplug is very much capable of doing his own work but he pays us to do it because 1)he makes enough money to not touch it, 2) its less of a hassle to just work some overtime and pay for the installs and enjoy the car.its not that he cant do the installs, he just doesent feel like it or have time. but if you want to rent the lift from us during the dyno day, i may be able to arrange it. i would pay a small fee to do it on a lift instaed of in the driveway on ramps, it yeilds a much better finished product.

everybody that has taken thier car to a local muffler shop lately, has been put on our lift to have the exhaust modified, i hav already corrected the x-pipe angle on kyles exhaust, now i have to fix the tip install.live and learn. and mikeyscatback could not have been installed by your girlfriend, she would have done a much better job..

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

I honestly love doing all my own work, and I rarely have time for it, which is why soooo much stuff is piled up waiting to go on. I know exactly how it is to have to pay to get stuff, especially with the paint, it was a killer. I'm just extremely picky and a HORRIBLE customer, I want to watch everything, because if one little thing isn't the way I would do it, I freak out, even down to which way the u-bolts face, I like them to where the threads are point towards the center of the car, not pointing down to catch a speed bump or up to rub the chassis.

The only good thing about me being a customer is that if the work is good, I tell EVERYBODY! Shops love that lol
