Probably...specially since I only have a forged balloon too that hasn't been able to prove itself at all over the last 5 years.

I used to go up the hill on confederate from tiger bend sideways in everyday driving home when it was raining. It was good stuff and made a lot of people bug eyed in the oncoming lane.

and your point is??????????

Of course I'm terrified, this is actually my first "custom" paint job on any vehicle, and while I know it's gonna get abuse, I still don't want it to happen.

And even though they are ugly, I'm gonna get it a front end cover for road trips.

They are only ugly when left on the car daily....when used for road trips, there is nothing wrong with them. When I repaint my car I am getting one for trips as well.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

One of my old roommates did the same thing, and he was as picky with his stang as me. He really did it right, took it off after every use and cleaned it inside and out. It really kept his car looking good when he'd run up to jersy and back.

I've looked at the clear ones, but I'm afraid that if they stay on too long that they'll take the paint with them when they get peeled off.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

The problem with the clear ones is that you will eventually see the line where it ends and since it is stuck to the car, that line will always be there...specially on a dark color. On white of silver, it would be great. But on anything else, I would leave it off. Saw it on a black cobra once, and from about 25 feet away you could see where the clear bra ended....looked really tacky to me. Now, I will probably get the clear stuff for the side skirts and the edges of the rear wheel wells though....maybe.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

Lol, there are some kits out there that you can put it on and trim it yourself, but again, my biggest fear is peeling off the paint.

The bra tends to absorb the impact of rocks and stuff too, where I think the clear stuff won't do as good of a job. I have clear headlight covers that are gonna go on it, they look like the old school blackout covers, but clear and they aren't noticable behind a bra at all.

One thing to look out for on the bra is where it hooks to the fenders. I noticed after some time using on on the Stage3 bumper on my old car it would wear down the edges at the fender.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

The clear kit I saw is the trimable one from 3M. The point is, it ends at some point and because it is higher than the paint, there is a ridge. That ridge collects dirt, wax, etc and over time will really stand out against the paint. The one I saw was only about a month old on a weekend warrior car and like I said, you could see it from about 25 feet away.

It won't take the paint off unless your painter sucks and doesn't prep the surface properly. But from the sounds of your comments in other threads and the pics I saw so far, your painter is a damn good one.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

My last roommate, who backed her 03 mustang into mine the day after I installed new headlights, left hers on ALL the time, and when she finally took it off, it was terrible. Hers was silver, but since she left it on and never did any maintenance, it looked worse than if she would've had nothing at all.

I didn't think the slear ones were really meant to be left on for extended periods of time, I figured I'd replace it every couple of months. I never really did any research on them either though, so yeah I could see what you mean about nasty buildup on the edges. I thought they would be able to wrap around the fender wells and stuff.

I may get some of that thick stuff for the fogs and headlights though, for permanent use.

No **** on that one...I need another new fog light as this is the second one that has been blown out by rocks...this time because some jack leg didn't secure the tailgate of his dump truck and dumped gravel from the 10/110 split all the way until I caught up and passed him at seigan lane. It was when I caught up with him that it blew out the light....I drove down the median by that separating wall just to make room so I could go by while he dumped gravel...but stones bounce where ever they want and a couple got my car.

Re: BATON ROUGE: Mustang Evolution Dyno Day 7/26/2008

I had the same thing happen to my 02 F150, 3 weeks after I put on my lightning front end, and all the paint was ruined, headlights and fogs destroyed, grilles were all knicked up. And it happened in THE EXACT SAME PLACE, but at 6:30am, and I was crossing the river going north on 110.

You don't want to put a clear bra on every few months, those things get expensive fast.
