These are just show and shine shows, not MCA points shows or anything like that. Just the next step up from a cars and coffee.

I'll be at Blackhawk on Sunday with family in tow. Also, GHMC will be gathering a group for The Cobra Experience on March 15 starting with a cruise from the Fairfield Costco.

Okay...sometimes it gets a little stale in here and somebodies gotta say something stupid to break the tension....I seem to fill that role on occasion.

If the symptoms are:
Your car will start and run all day, after jump starting, but the battery goes dead again overnight. It could either be a bad battery or a bad alternator. It may seem like a bad battery, but if the alternator is draining the battery, when the engine isn't running (Shorted Diode), it will ruin the battery by continuing to drain it when it is sitting.
If you want to do a "low-tech" test to determine if it is the battery, at fault, or the alternator, jump start the car and run it long enough to charge the battery. Then disconnect the battery until you drive the car the next time. If it starts right up, after reconnecting the battery, it is likely the alternator, or something else, causing a drain on electrical system. If it doesn't start, the battery, of course, is probably at fault.

After a jump it'll drive just fine and then I can start it again the same day and also the next day but it'll get weaker the longer it sits. I'm positive it's the battery. Battery is at minimum 2 years old since that's how long I've had the car. Probably a lot older, haven't looked at the date on it though.

Napa Auto has new batteries under $100. And they are quality batteries.

It could very well be just the battery.
Just don't overlook the possibility of the alternator being the cause of the battery draining down. My car was doing the same thing as yours, right at about the same amount of miles, and it was the alternator. I replaced the battery first, but after being connected overnight, I could tell when I started it the next morning that something had drained the freshly charged, brand new battery. I checked the alternator output and it was less than half of what it should have been. I didn't check the diodes because it wasn't necessary at that point but I assume that one had failed and not only was the alternator not producing enough amps when it was operating, also, the open diode was draining the battery when the key was turned off!
Its probably a 14 year old alternator on your car...

Just giving you a heads up if this problem continues, even with a new battery.

You can easily check the alternator: Put a voltmeter across the battery while its running. It should be around 14.5VDC. If it's significantly lower you've got a charging system problem, most likely the alternator.

Yea I'm going to get the alternator checked some time also. Closest auto store is like a 35 minute drive.
