Smile New England Spring Cruise 2016!

OK folks, we know it's early but I need to plan ahead. RoboStang and I are doing the Spring Cruise on Saturday May 21st (rain date Sunday 22nd) details will follow but this one will be the CT route. I've made some changes to the start that are an improvement and hope to get a few other improvements in. It will have a good bit of the last CT one. This means you are going to have to pay attention! It is a narrow twisty route with elevation changes and a lot of fun driving.

We will figure something out for lunch and plan on having another good time riding with friends. If you haven't been on one we set a decent but not insane pace and it's a hoot to go for a nice ride. We bought these cars to enjoy them so lets go for a ride.

Reminder: These are at your own risk!

We will call for help if you go off into the trees (if we notice) but we will claim parts off your car under the Rule of Salvage. I call dibs on the engine if it's a V8.

Mud

The meeting place for the cruise is in the Meriden CT area. Hope you can make it up for it. Always great to have new people join us.

Rob

Jza,

we go far a nice long ride. If I remember right the CT one is a bit less than 100 miles but it's what I call a highly technical ride. I've mapped it out with lots of twists and turns on back roads and it's a blast. You can go back and look at my previous thread for earlier rides. I'll post up starting details later but if Rob likes my new starting place it's at a good diner.

What time does it start and what time does it get back to Meriden? Also where do you meet? Thanks, this would be my first time.

Red,

We'll post up details later for meeting place. Normally we start right at 11:00 and we should get back around 3:00 or so depending on lunch. The normal number of cars is 12-15 which makes an cool sight for folks who see us go by.

I'm interested....but I may take the back of the line in case I want to go a bit slower. Haven't had a ticket in 30 years. I like going fast from A to Z in a straight line or on a wiggly road track.

For those having to drive a bit to get to the start we do make it worth the effort. This route is approx 100 miles which is a good length for the type of driving. This one is mostly 3rd gear (well it's gotta be 3rd for us with V6's) twisties. I have 95% of the route mapped I just need to adjust a few bits to avoid stops & left hand turns. We will have a few but we have enough folks that have been on them before that we know how to run blocking at intersections where it's needed. 99% of the people who are delayed by that are good with it when they see what we are doing. The other 1% are just ______.

Rob and I are still working on starting point but it will be somewhere in the Meridan/Wallingford/Middletown area. We'll post the start time/place up well in advance of the ride.

as of this morning there is a 99% chance of our starting being being just off I-91 Exit 21. There is a decent diner Cromwell Diner and a couple of chain restaurants right there. I'll try and check out parking soon but it may not happen till after Easter.

For those who've been on our rides before this one may be somewhat different. Rob and I are doing the suspension on mine this coming wknd. IDK if it's going to be faster since my car will (hopefully) handle better or if it'll be slower as I'm bounced around inside my ride.

adj Koni's/1 1/2 drop springs/strut mounts/uca/lca/etc!

Awesome, been waiting for this! Went on the fall one and had a blast, and the wide summer tires and new Brembos should be on by then! I'll be putting in for the time off ASAP.

Sadly, I'll only be there in spirit...bummer as I wanted to check out the CT route.

But I'll be in sunny LA that weekend, so not *too* bummed.

Nope, for a friend's wedding. It's actually one of three trips that month, but the other two are for work.

I'll be one jetlagged mess by the time June rolls around.
